A romance story in a war film can work if it a good one. Well scripted where the characters have depth, and it is not a cliche filled badly scripted mess that was the PH Re-make.

See the Czech film Dark Blue World.

Which funnily enough came out around the same time, cost significantly less to make and is far superior.

I don't refer to it as Pearl Harbour it's more like

"World War II The Early Years"[/size]

At least James Cameron attempted to make Titanic as accurate as possible. It's part of the reason the budget blew out.

The worse part of Pearl Harbor movie was the use of modern .50 cal machine gun instead of the water cooled jacked machine guns that you see in most WW2 movies. But after all this was a chick flick more than a war movie.

I've seen this movie again recently. Main problem is Jack, Rose being more interesting (and Kate acting better than Leo).
Problem is the first hour and half, totally unusefull. Once the ship collide with the iceberg, forget Jack, Rose and other clichés, and the movie works better...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Quote"Pearl Harbor" used rows of Perry & Knox class FFG's during the bombing sequences.
Wasnt there also a bunch of Spruance class destroyers?

QuoteWhat about the US army tanks that stood in for King Tigers in the movie battle of the Bulge.

If I remember a T-34 was heavily modified to look like a Tiger I for Saving Private Ryan.
Funnily enough we wereonly talking about this at my club meet today
If you love, love without reservation; If you fight, fight without fear - THAT is the way of the warrior

If you go into battle knowing you will die, then you will live. If you go into battle hoping to live, then you will die

Radish

bloody Hell, Lancer....great.
Where you been??

Battle of the Bulge.....

The Philadelphia Experiment 2 featured a F-117 Stealth Fighter in Nazi markings.

I think I can remeber an episode of "Magnum P.I" that involved a russian fighter pilot defecting to Hawai.  The "spot the cock up" scene is the defecting russian fighter landing (a grey USN F4) escorted by 2 USAF fighters (green F4).
Reality is for people who can't handle Whif!!

Now with more WHATTHEF***!! than ever before!

I remember an episode of Tour of Duty were the platoon was tasked with destroying a 'Russian' helicopter.  I'm, working off memory, but it was clearly an American type, (pretty sure it was a Hughes 500) & had no changes or markings of any kind to suggest it might be Russian.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Also, i just remebered, wasn't there a soviet Dauphin 2 in one to the Roger Moore bond films, can remeber which one it was of the top of my head, but I think it was carring the soviet "M".

They used a Dauphin in "The Forth Protocol" as a Russian Helicopter.

Radish

For us oldies.....

Let's remember the Japanese Hellcats in "Flying Leathernecks".

T-6 as a P-47 in "Kelly's Heroes"

HMS Vanguard in "Sink The Bismark"

Guards Van as Hood is a famous one. A good choice too, as the shots taken inside her turrets would match up pretty well with what Hood's would look like.

Think I vaguely remember that, but didn't a 'Hoplite' appear in 'For Your Eyes Only' at the monastery?
'Fire up the Quattro!'
'I'm arresting you for murdering my car, you dyke-digging tosspot! - Gene Hunt.

simmie

yes , i remeber the "Hoplite as well, right at the end of the film.

the Dauphin was in an slightly earlier Roger Moore 'Bond' incarnation, just cant remeber which one, Possibly "Octopussy".

The final countdown features the USS Nimitz, F-14s, F-8s, E-2s and S-61s in 1941...

Oh wait! That part of the plot! :dum: But the zeroes where T-6 ;)

The U-231 (or whatever it was called, the one where americans captured a nazi boat) featured a non-nazi destroyer acting as a kriegsmarine ship  ?

The Mig-28s in Top Gun.

Not exactly what-if, but the P-51s in Memphis Belle didnt have fuel to fly England-Berlin-England non-stop
