Friday I went back to my local Wal-Mart to buy another 21st Century Bf 109F kit and they were all gone! Last week they had 6 of them and the week before that they had a single Corsair kit, so these kits are selling very well while the other plastic kits at Wal-Mart have been there for months and collect dust.
These new 21st Century and Hobbyboss kits are good for our hobby, they are the kind of products that the public wants, easy to build models with few parts that look good when built and yet are very low priced. Maybe we will see an increase in new modellers in the future. :)

I agree and would like to use my 1/32 Marseille markings on that 109F kit, but haven't seen it here yet in OZ.

Allan,

The supply of 21st Century kits is spotty at best right now but I understand things are beginning to improve. Just a month ago my local Wal-Mart had not even heard of these kits and lately I have seen kits of the Corsair, Bf 109F, and Ju 87 arrive and then they quickly sell out of them.
The Bf 109F is a very nice kit, it reminds me of how the older Monogram kits were (when molded in the U.S.A.), good in basic shape and fit but weak in the finer details and all for a very good price.
Can't wait to get the Macchi C202!

Rollmodels now stock the Corsair and Stuka.

Things definately are moving forward.

Went to Walmart today to take a look and was reminded why I don't like Walmart  :angry:

They have a whole shelf of car models sitting out and nothing else. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a 21st Stuka locked in the bottom of the paint cabinet, the only aircraft in the whole store is locked up! Well there was no way I was going to find someone to open the cabinet in a reasonable amount of time so I guess i'll have to try again on another visit or maybe I'll just do what I always end up doing and order online.

Problem is, these kits are supposed to be exclusive to Wal-Mart in the US, which is why me in Canada had to search 14 Wal-marts in 3 days at the start of my vacation in March!! LOL.

Ended up with 14 kits, and sold all but 2 of them, at twice the price I paid for them.

I still have a 109 and a Macchi if anyone is interested!! $20 each plus shipping!!
Thanks

Jeff G,

I am not a Wal-Mart fan either but it makes sense to get certain items from there.
My local Wal-Mart has had the same plastic model kits in stock for months now and the only kits that seem to sell are the 21st Century kits, the car models and the few Monogram airplane kits they have are not selling.

Personally, I don't like them because they've driven two towns I've lived in basically out of business with their predatory practices, they treat their employees worse than most people treat animals, and they're single-handedly doing their level best to keep China in business (at the expense of any number of American businesses).  The company has no soul, and is probably one of the greediest groups of people on the planet (next to the oil companies).

That's pretty much why I refuse to step foot in Mal-Wart.

I totally agree.  I go to a shopping mall that has a Wal-Mart.  It always burns me up to see cars in the Wal-Mart section of the lot with various union local bumper and window stickers.

BTW, anyone have a website for the 21st Century kits?

Why has a 21st century kit post turned into "let's bash wal-mart" post??

I have a couple of 21st kits and they build up nice. I have both the F-86 and Mig15.

Oil Companies----Greedy?  Why, we're just a few, po' good ol' boys tryin to make an honest livin, is all...    ;)   If anyone's greedy, it's the average consumer who demands things like:
- driving an automobile or taking flight/sail/rail on anything driven by petroleum products;
- heating their homes, workplaces, schools, commercial buildings and such without using coal, geo-thermic energy or wood;
- plastics (like the styrene used to make 21st Century Kits in fact)

All of the above could be avoided.

As for Wal*Mart and kits: I used to love picking up cheap kits at the local Wal*Mart....problem is, they stopped carrying model kits about 5 years ago over here.

And I have yet to see a "21st Century Kit" in any of my LHS's since none of them dare bring in anything even slightly off the beaten path.

So, I live vicariously through you lucky ones who have access to them!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

JHM,

If you are interested Roll Models sells the Corsair and Ju 87 kits, I have read that the Ju 87 is one of their better kits. Don't know about how good that Corsair kit is yet.

BTW, Roll Models sells Hobbyboss kits now...and for a VERY good price! :)

So you're going to totally stop consuming anything that is derived from fossil oil then?  Turn off your computer and recycle it.  See ya later!
