Here's the dilemma; A couple of years ago Leigh sent me a model of an A-3 from some company called Advent. (Thanks Leigh!) It's rather primitive, but for whatiffing purposes anything will work in my books. My initial thought was to turn it into a Russian twin-engined turbo-prop bomber. The tough parts here would be constructing a nose glazing (Hey, it's Russian, gotta have that  :P ), a tail turret (see previous parentheses  ^_^ ), and modifying the jet engines into long tubes with 10 or 12 bladed contra-props (Again, it's Russian...).

Second option would necessitate the carving of yet another hull, arranging the engines on top of the wings, perhaps cranking down the wings at the fold line (They're functional on this model) to have tip floats, and building the aforementioned tail turret.

Oh, and scrounging some red stars for either one.

Captain Canada

Gotta be the planing hull.....that would be too cool to see a mid-sized jet powered boat in mid 50's USN livery.

Do it ! Do it now !

i like the prop idea too - i REALLY like it.

An alternative to the il-28?  or supplemental?  you know, you could go on to build a whole stack of these things - AEW with radome and folding wings (hawkeyski), as a light gunship or COIN (great in Afghanistan), light transport (with rear ramp? or clamshell doors? large side door too?), maritime patrol for soviet naval aviation, aeroflot version as regional propjet....

...wow.

i'm already jealous of the scale that this project has, and itching to get playing with photoshop again...

get 'er done ratty - good luck with this one (oh, and i'll see what decals i have, i might be able to help you out a bit)!!

Combine both ideas.

Buy a B-47 and a B-52, graft the nose of the Skywarrior onto the Stratojet, scrap its engines and replace them by a pair of podded B-52 engines. Ask Panzerwulff for more details...

Killer whale, on the model of Raytheon testbeds (Tomcat nose, radar and Phoenix).

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

ISTR that Advent was a re-box label for a number of Revell kits a long time ago (I'd hazard a guess at three decades plus).  I vote for the turboprop bomber, perhaps an export one in "interesting" camoflage?

Has to be the turboprop bomber, although I'd put the engines above the wings as in the Tu-90  project for a turboprop Tu-16 Badger

I voted for a planing Hull, something to fit in between the Sea Dart & Sea Master maybe?  Oh, with ski's like the Sea Dart too!

EDIT Just re-read your post, you said Russian, D'OH! :dum:  I'd still go with the planing hull, maybe an ekranoplan?  Lower the wing (maybe a different one) & mount those turboprops on the rear fuse or tail (I'm thinking three, two on the fuse, one integral to the tail)?  Then fit sh*t-loads of ordanance like the Caspian Sea-Monster!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Graft a Ju-388 onto the front and viola a Luft 50's bomber.

How about a Soviet turboprop float bomber?

Just about exactly what I was thinking of Ben!    The major difference would be the engines, I was going to ditch the pylons and mount them directly under the wing like the Bear. Might move the horizontal stabs down onto the fuselage too, and trim the fin fillet a bit.

I like the idea Sisko has, or maybe even graft an Ar 234C nose to it.
