Hi All
I`ve lifted this directly from the Backwards Group Build page as I`m working on it as I type, or at least waiting for filler to dry.

hI aLL
I`ve been thinking about the scrapyard build and do I have enough parts to do anything with, but also I`ve had the odd peek here as the ideas quite intresting. I had considered using the Dragon 262 that I`ve scavenged bits from for the 262+2x109 build and building that as a tailess Ruttannesque creation, wings at the back with canards for the backwards build, but have gone of in a different direction for that kit (see swapshop 262W). As I now only build 1:48 my box of bits in other scales was given to my mates kids with some tubes of glue to keep them quiet during the school summerbreak several years ago, when I downsized my model room into my model cupboard and my selection of parts is quite limited. Now I found an old (£2.99 price tag)1:72 Fujimi Me110c on the shelf and playing with my bits, as you do, started putting them together, just offering them up to each other and the next thing I knew the glue was out, bits and fingers were being stuck, and so far I`ve got this-

Now I don`t know what it is supposed to be, what scale it is or anything, I just know it`s called the Swan and I like the shape. It will have very slender canards and deffinately jets, or maybe turbo props and will be finished in white, or maybe silver and painted to look like a solid with no interior. I think it may end up with a racing number and the words Buggatti keep flitting through the gap between my ears but I am not sure where I can put a horseshoe radiator.
regards Gary[8-]

Now since posting this a lot of waste filler has been sanded away and the shape is becoming more refined
At present I have arranged on shelves in my workcupboard the 262+2x109, the 262C1-a, a Croatian 109G-10, 109G-12, 262 Mistel, Fw Flitzer scratchbuild and a vacform Go229 all WIP`s so I`m obviously not stuck for somthing to do, but this has grabbed my attention for some reason and all else has stopped. So I`m gonna get it out of the way so that normal service can resume as soon as possible.

Really promising, and it has an air of advanced/retro that is really inspiring

Looks great so far!  Reminds me of some the Miles 'tail first' aircraft.  How are you going to mount the tail, or is tailless? I guess you could go several routes & all would look good, single conventional tail, twin tail mounted over the fairings or on the wingtips.

Looking forward to another fantastic build, you've quickly built up a great reputation Gary!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

:) Now THAT's sharp looking.(pun intended)

Hi Again
As for definately jets it`s now rocket engines in keeping with the 20`s to early30`s feel I think it has.
It`l  pro`bly  have spats somewhere if only for keeping the wheels in.
And now I`m thinking Opel not Bugatti.

Mmmmm an excellent choice! It's a proven fact that spats increase the coolness factor of any aircraft by 1000%!

This concept is sooo incredibly awesome that the addition of spats will take the coolness factor right off the scale!

I'm watching with great interest HOG. This one's already a beauty!

Am I the only one that thinks that this looks like an X-wing fighter?

It also looks like it deserves tricycle landing gear (how does one make a spatted nose gear?) B)

Coming from someone who's favorite car is the Opel GT, I can't wait to see the finished product. Definitely has that "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" look to it. Great work!

Hi All
First a few replies:-

"you've quickly built up a great reputation Gary"
Thats what they said just before they barred me from the local

"has an air of advanced/retro that is really inspiring"
"This concept is sooo incredibly awesome "
It`s just bits of plastic Rafa & Brian

"Am I the only one that thinks that this looks like an X-wing fighter? "
The subconcious design influences used in this model predate the Republic and therefore predate the X Y A & B wings.

"Definitely has that "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow""
What is this?

"Great work! "
Ahh work, the curse of the drinking class.

Now back to the build, by the way my grand daughter(10) taught me (54) how to cut and paste today if you didn`t notice,. The addittion of a cockpit has suddenly altered the outline:-

and the tail gives it a lufty46ish look with Messersmidt/Lippisch undertones which kinda ties in with the rocket motors that Opel was famous for prewar in cars and gliders.
Well I`m not sure of the Swan title anymore perhaps Shwan may be more fitting.

With that rear fin it looks vauge like something you would see flying around Coruscant in one of the star wars prequels.

Maybe something from Naboo. An all metal finish what ever you decide it is from, would look the ducks nuts on it.

Gary, "Sky Captain" was a 1940's, sci-fi movie made in 2004. I like it because the hero, Jude Law, flies a P-40  . Here's a link for more info.

That's no Swan, it's a Terradactyl! (Which by the way makes it even neater!)  :D
