Can Columbia XJL-1 carry depth charges?

That pic managed to to get me to start imagining an ASW suite and operators inside the fuselage cabin......

I'm drawing parallel with Alize and Gannet here....... and if that arrangement is put on Skyraider or Skyshark......
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

Hi Everyone!

The one type of floats that I've always liked are amphibian floats.

These aircraft so equipped are really quite a sight sitting on a dry-land airfield, far from water.

How about a 2-seat Westland Wyvern with amphibian floats for coastal patrol missions (among others)?

Or even a single seat Wyvern Flaotplane fighter!

We must ask Gekko to make a profile of this one !!
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Or even better a Blackburn Firebrand on floats although I figure it would need twin floats as to straddle the torpedo

Read something else on the fighter floatplane front from the British Secret Project book.

It wasn't explained in detail, but there was a Supermarine 542 project, which is Attacker jet fighter with floats.

You know I was thinking pretty much the same thing.

Just like when I thought about battleships Ise and Hyuga...... I kept wondering if they'd be more useful being packed with Kyofu or anti-submarine floatplanes......

An Attacker with floats ?     :dum:

Your battleship idea give other ideas... Alizée on floats on board Jean Bart and Richelieu battleships!

Or perhaps a Bearcat derivative with the Seahawk's floats?

Good news... thanks to Mossie, I'll be able to order Hannants below their 30 pounds level  ^_^
So I plan to buy this float An-2 and use its floats for my next Skyraider II.

There's probably enough ideas here for a future "Floatplane" GB - 2008 sometime?

How about Jeanne D'Arc carrying an airwing of floatplane Alizes? It could probably accomodate 8 Alizes, and a couple of Allouetes for SAR work. They would make for a good ASW escort for the Foch and Clemenceau, and make for excellent ASW carriers for the N. Atlantic...

A similar option might even work for the UK (though it would be a stretch to see it happening), with the UK operating floatplane Fairey Gannets alongside Sea Kings and Wessexes. They could operate as ASW carriers, but be able to carry AEW versions as well, to give a carrier some extra screening. Perhaps a new class of cruiser, along the lines of the Jeanne D'Arc, but with full AAW capability.
