I'll have more to throw at the already completed builds thread than the actual GB, but I might get one or two built in the next three months.

i'll be doing something for this one, not sure what but count me in.  ^_^

a MB339 as a T-33 replacement should get me started and it will be in ANG markings for sure.
and a second F-29A the first one i did has iowa ANG markings
and i am sure that there is some orther unit i can fit in and maybe another F-99A
USAF hunter [as featured in the wif sig magazine a couple of years ago.]

HoE, off to check which markings will fit.  -_-

cheers guys!      :ar:

btw, the iowa ANG F-29A was exhibited on the USAF sig stand at the last halesowen
model show in birmingham and no one apart from papa haydn the sig leader ever
noticed.

Any chance I can throw my het into the ring as well? I've got a very creative(at least I think so....) kitbash in the cards if I can join in. If not, well then, I guess I'll just put it in the workbench section.

Jon

P.S. Do you all know how bloody hard it is to find a Meteor in 1/72?!

Shasper

If ya got something, then bring it mate  ;)

Well, I don't know as much about British a/c as I do about American, so I don't know the subtle differences in variants, but I just need the wings, engines, and main gear from a relatively early variant. Unfortunately that's about all I can say without giving away my project. I bid on a cheap Frog kit on eBay because it was there, but it may be an old enough kit that it wouldn't be of any use. Thanks

Yeah, the Airfix F.3 is the earliest model you'll get, still the only one of an early Meteor.  I spotted the recent 1/72 Meteor/V1 gift set at the local Toys R Us today.  I can grab one for you if you want, but you should be able to get it pretty easy, either the gift set or an older kit on it's own.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

jon, i might be able to lay my hands on a frog meteor MkIV but not for a couple of
weeks. PM me if no one else can help you.

Thanks for all the offers of help. I don't have many resources around as far as hobby shops go..., so if you guys could keep a look out and PM me if come upon anything, that would be great. I can send some cash or spares as payment as well. Now I almost feel obligated to reveal my project....almost ^_^  . Thanks again everyone.

Jon, Kingkit, a UK model shop site & has both the Airfix & Frog kits for sale.  The Airfix kit is £5 (about $10), the Frog kit £11 ($22).  They'll charge you £6 ($12) for postage by surface mail, £11 ($22) air mail.  There site is very much no thrills, but they're quick on delivery & I've never had problems with them.  I'd order it & post it to you, but it'd probably end up much the same in postage costs.

The Airfix F.3 is best if you want a very early Meteor, i.e. wartime variant.  This has the shorter nacelles & W.2/Welland engines of the wartime variants.  The Frog F.4 is the first post-war variant, with longer nacelles, shorter wings & Derwent engines.  From what I've heard (never built it myself), the Airfix kit is old but accurate & servicable, no idea about the Frog version I'm afraid.  Depends on which variant you need or how much you're willing to pay!

Well, I wanted to keep it under raps, but I don't know anything about Meteor variants and I figured that you guys could help me out if you knew what I needed. Here is my project(one of them at least...). I found it here on Whiff.com but I can't remember where. Its not a great pic, but you can at least get the general idea. My plan is to kitbash this together and put it in operational ANG markings. Any help on which kit I should buy? Thanks.

Jon

P.S. Sorry for the hijack...

Here's a good pic from Air Vectors to show you what's what with the different marks Jon:

As you can see, the wings & nacelles are quite different.  Your pic closely matches that of the Mk.III, so it's the Airfix kit you want.  At least it saves you a bit of cash!  Is this a real world project meant to cure some of the defficiencies in the Airacomet, or a pure whiff?  Looking forward to seeing it take shape!

If you ever need to check details on British military aircraft variants (& plenty of others), Air Vectors is a good place to look.  Here's the link to the Meteor page:
