Hi Joe, at the mo the boxart is based on a photo called 'Natural Element' in my group. Its the same one I posted somewhere on this forum. Considering a different pic showing it taking off, but nothing definite as yet.

The RAF Yearbook painting by Wilf Hardy (ta, Wooks) would be almost ideal, but copyright issues may rule it out. Just had a look on the web to see if I could get in touch with him, but the only way seems to be via the Pentagon! No way am I giving them my e-mail address, not after all my moanings about the US and Concorde.

Shall we go with WE177 then? Reckon they could be moulded in two parts each. Dunno about underwing stores, got as far as aux fuel tanks. So far, full u/c bays have been excluded on grounds of cost, so I'm afraid it'll just be like the Heritage kit gear bays. Polls sugested more desire for the bomb bay. Not going nuts in the cockpit either, cos the aftermarket will provide for that, and I want to keep the kit affordable (and cheap to produce). If I was doing a 1/48 version all this would be different.

Can't recall BAC's logo, is it in the Untold Story video? An eye-catching design is a must, but no shop will display it if its got unauthorised logos all over it. Bloody copyright, we'd actually be doing Airfix a favour with free publicity, but the lawyers never see it like that!

I'm still pitching this at Airfix, cos a) they started a TSR 2 so should finish it and b) they're the only British mainstream firm left, so they should be doing it anyway.
Trev Snowdon said its on the 'Wish List' so its now a question of convincing the accountants that it would sell. If our combined efforts can't do that then nothing will!

BTW, reckon the kit no. should be 05219, so if that was accidentally leaked all over the web it could only help ;)

sounds good so far...yip WE177's would definately be simpler mould wise...a bracket on each bomb upper with a couple of location holes in the bay...re the undercart bays, i agree keeping them all closed except for the small gear ones...all the other doors remain closed except during sequencing anyway or for maintenance access...easy chops for those that want to...likewise the avionics bay doors! prob easier to keep the intake blow in doors closed too...ideally such details should be shown with some nice deep panel lines!  :o
id love to see airbrakes on any potential kit tho, four petals plus their actuators would easily fill a sprue space!
having chatted with a number of persons in the field if cnc. die making...its not the number of parts that pushes the price upward...rather the frame size and tooling time (actually the tooling cost is far ess than weve all been led to believe over the years...!!!)   :o

cheers, joe
oh re the BAC. logo ...i was thinking of the linked bar one used on all their brochures etc. during the early 60's...ill dig out a cleaned up version i did years back...
... 'i reject your reality and substitute my own !'
