It's been 5 months since my last stab at whatiffery, so after all those "real" builds I figured it was time to use up some of the stuff cluttering up my spares box, and build something a little more out of the ordinary.
So to that end, here we have the Testors/Italeri XR-7 Thunderdart from a few years ago. It's from the set with the absolutly HUGH SR-75 Penetrator, but I'll be building this one as a "stand alone" model as opposed to mounting it on the back of the SR-75.
Well, whats been happening so far. Firstly I found an old resin F-16 cockpit that fitted the cockpit appature quite well, so thats gone in. The instrument combing has been removed and I will be incorperating some more F-16 parts here, as well as modifieing an ACES II seat. At the back, I've removed the flaps and I'll reposition these later.

I'll update when theres a little more to see.

Old memories.. I've build this kit nine years ago (the month France won football world cup, hurray!! )

I've been modelling for only two years at the time, and painting the HUGE SR-75 was really a nightmare

I TESTIFY IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE  TO PAINT ITALERI SR-75 IN BLACK WITH A BRUSH AND HUMBROL PAINT.

Looking good so far!
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Will die without understanding this world.

Didn´t know about this plane. Can you post a picture of the box?

It's great to see you back, chadders! I'm going to enjoy seeing how this one comes together. You're off to a wonderful start

welcome back Chadders  :D

That kit isnt to bad on its own, but with what your doing in the way of updates it should look great
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Right then, just a quick update. I've just finished remodelling the seat. This kit is a what if in the greatest sense of the phrase. To that end I didn't want to fit an easily recognisable seat, in this case and ACES II. So what I've done is take the kit seat and remodelled it with bits of plastic card and some spare bits of braa to come up with this:

As for the box art Gunfighter here it is in all its glory. The SR-75 is a massive 26" long, so I'll have to clear some space for that!!

Wow Chadders that seat rocks! Very impressive detail work there! It's attention to things like this that can really turn a project into a stunner! I think this one's gonna be well worth watching!

Nice touch so far.

Should be a good model when finished.

Good work Chadders, looking forward to see this completed!

Reminds me of that Aurora hoax some years back now, a modeller modified this same kit, released the pics & waited to see what happened for about a week. It got copied around the world for people to discuss.  The sceptics on this site were right about it being a hoax, but got none of the details right.  It wasn't shopped & the model was rested on a fishing line cradle, rather than suspended from the air.  The pics had that foggy 'long distance' look after the film was forgotten about & simply deteriorating before being developed!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

So I'm not the only one mistaking the JMNs ?

Nope, it's not just you thrusting a stick into the Hornet's nest Archie!!!

It comes down to a quote I always repeat on here:

"You have city hands, Mr. Hooper. You been countin' money all your life."
"I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten."
"That's a twenty footer." "Twenty-five. Three tons of him."
"Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women."
"You're certifiable, Quint! You know that?" "Yeah, yeah, yeah..."

OK Mossie, thats it, I've got all this stuff to do and NOW I have to go and watch Jaws again!  ;)
  Thanks for that  :D
