ive seen a completed model at friends house a couple of years ago, let me tell you, that is on LARGE kit

he painted his in a vietnam style camo (witch fitted the aircraft nicely)
if i were to build one, i would chose an urban style camo (with 3 tone grey/black)

looks really nice with a viper workdesk in it

Sorry about the lack of updates, I've been a lttle bit busy these last 2 weeks. However building has continued apace and I've got some more pictures here to share. First of all I'll tell you what I've done. I've added a "dog leg" ino the leading edege of the wings coz I think it gives the aircraft a better shape. The horizontal flying surfaces have been reduced in size. The vertical fins have been completely reshaped and reduced in length by 2cm. These have also been reshaped on the bottom so that when attached to the airframe they will be at an angle (et al the F-117A). Underneith I have added 2 appendages at the rear of the fusalage just to add a little interest. I have also added a small window, with the inside detailed with a peice off an F-16, again just to gve a little interest. Finally, the whole lot has had extra panel lines scribed in as well as some access hatches, as the minimal lines that were supplied would simply not have looked right after painting.
Hope you like how its coming together, and as always, if you have any comments or critiques, please let me know, Mark

Mossie

QuoteOK Mossie, thats it, I've got all this stuff to do and NOW I have to go and watch Jaws again!  ;)
  Thanks for that  :D
Mark
Did you watch it again???  You don't need an excuse to watch Jaws for 7,739,176th time!  Gotta get it on DVD, never had a copy of my own, just used to get pissed & watch at my mates, nearly every time, either that or Star Wars, sometimes Commando!  Followed by the obligatory Frankie Vaughn......

Your changes make it look a lot better Mark, are you going to do anything to the engines?

Durrr-dupp, durrr-dupp........
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Sure did Mossie. had to go and buy another copy first though coz mine had gone walkabouts, but I managed to get one second hand for £2, bargain.
As for the engines, I was toying with the idea of leaving the Pulse detonation engines off, so as to keep the flowing lines, but in the end I decided that I'd simply keep them as standard, and maybe build a backstory around them.

Well, things are really coming together now. I ended up having to completely reworking the engines after I said I wouldn't. I made a eal mess of the cone on one of the engines and this led to a little extra work, but I don't think they look too bad. Essentially made up of the original cone which has been cemented into the back of the engine nacelle which inturn has been slightly shortened, and then the next ring was made from the front of an F-16 wing tank, and finally the tip of a Sidewinder missile for the tip. When I added the engines to the airframe it was quite apparent that they were far too high and I cut them down quite considerably to try and keep them in keeping with the smooth lines of the aircraft.
At the front I have added cannards just forward of the cockpit and put them at a slight angle.
later tonight I'll try and get the parts washed off, and I'll be ready for some primer tomorrow, maybe even the first top coat (If I can make up my mind as to the colour scheme!    )

Love the detail work on those engines, Mark! The canards are a nice addition too. What color schemes and markings are you considering?

Unfortunately, Mr Chadders hasn't been on What-If in a very long time. I sure hope he's ok.
