I've mentioned here before that RAF Woodvale is a mere 3km from Schloss Jackson - Well up there just now are a pair of Merlins, four Lynxes and five Sea Kings of various marks including one in a retro 1970 era glossy dark blue/grey with full colour roundels.

Thursday night coming home from York.  Driving the van over Arras Hill at Market Weighton, I heard a sudden screech, & my first thought was 'sh!t, I've a lost a tyre at 60mph!'.  I then heard a roar (this was all in a second or so), the van rattled & I realised a jet had passed very low over the top of me.  I saw the lights of the second aircraft in my rear view mirror.  I'm guessing they were Tornadoes, it seems about from the way the lights were spaced.

There was a Police car in a lay-by near by, I'm guessing he was something to do with it.  Gave me a bit of a shock!  It's not the first time I've been buzzed by Tornadoes (if that's what they were), they used to regularly fly over the village I lived in as kid, but it's probably the closest they've been to me!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Stuck in traffic in Dorchester on the way to work Friday morning, an AAC Merlin in that lovely dark green colour howled over at very low level. Beautiful machine, the Merlin.

We had a totally overcast day here.

However, I taught a student who was not that far from the local airport and as I was leaving his offices I heard the most peculiar turboprop noise I've ever heard. I couldn't place it at all and tha cloud cover was too low for me to see anything when it went overhead. :banghead:

Not surprising seeing as Westlands is just down the road from you mate!! Stillm, you're in a good area for helo spotting.

Yeah, I see a couple every week. Also those Dassault Falcons that do contract work for the navy buzz around quite a bit.

Captain Canada

We were working in QC last week and they were doing an aerial survey...this guy kept flying over the rig....

Then a Griffon flew over. Must have been a 438 bird from St. Hubert

Yesterday an OPP Squirrel flew over the house....

And today a pair of Griffons flew over. Probably 400 squadron birds from Borden. I went over to the airport to grab a couple better pics....
