Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

I took a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon with the new camera.  The river and skies were empty, so I mostly took pictures of buildings and statuary.  On the way home, though, I caught sight of an MH-60 Knighthawk buzzing around the neighborhood, like always.  This was literally a snap shot.

Still learning the ins and outs of the new camera.  I miss having an optical viewfinder, but I'm getting the hang of it, I think.  Snapped this from the grocery store parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

Looks like a Canadair CRJ-200

I went for a walk today.  I always take my camera now, just in case.  I missed getting the perfect shot, because I was fumbling the camera out of my jacket pocket.

Most of the planes flying into ORF on any given day (at least when I'm out and about) are the same: Southwest 737s, assorted CRJs and the odd Dash-8 or DC-9/MD-80/717.  Sometimes you can see them yaw a bit trying to line up for the approach.  It's a good time to get them with their gear and flaps down.  I heard a loud roar, and looked up to see a Polet Cargo An-124.  I used to see these at CLT all the time, but never in the air.  I apologize if these aren't up to my usual standards, but trying to win a stern chase with a jet is a losing proposition.

Nice work, Jason ! The second pic looks pretty good....it might have been trying to get away from you, but that bird is so darn big it wasn't doing a very good job !

I was out shovelling the driveway just now when I heard that all-to-familiar "wop-wop". I knew it wasn't the Enbridge chopper ( as they're flying and EC-145 now ) so I ran into the house to grab the camera. Of course it was downstairs, and the big lens was in my bedroom, and I had to kick off my boots.....anyway, this is as best as I could get. It was also snowing. I was going to drive over to the airport and get some better pics but my house is full of kids and I can't risk leaving....maybe tmorrow morning if it's still there.

I've got an M&E Models 1/72 vac conversion to do one of those Todd, along with some CanMilAir decals.  Nice shot

The river was all jammed up with ice, so it looks like they were here doing ice reconnaissance for the ice breakers.

A couple of close-ups for Robert

Brrr.....

I heard it flying about 45 mins. later, but couldn't see it thru the cloud

I think that was it's original use....I'm guessing now it fills the emergency floatation bags on the skids.

Those are some interesting detail shots Todd, thanks.  I'll have to remember this thread when I get around to building the model.

Ah, that would make more sense.
