Not exactly over my house, but i noticed a Boeing 737-800 N738MA from International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC) headed from the US towards Hamburg or Germany/Eastern Europe. I didnt know ILFC operated any aircraft themselves?!? I thought they just parked them in the desert until an airline leases them...

A C-2 Greyhound whizzed over this morning.  I got a very blurry photo with my A330 at maximum (5x) zoom.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

How on earth did the ship end up like that? :o I could imagine the person at the helm was sacked...

It was eight miles off Fleetwood Lancs., from where it departed, and was hit by a 30foot freak wave last week. There were 23 passengers and crew aboard, including a baby, all of which were rescued by helicopter. The following morning it was beached at Anchorsholme Lancs. like this and has since started to disgorge some of its cargo, (biscuits and crisps apparantly).
The tide is very shallow there and they have blocked access to the promenade and beach to recover it by means of big 'feck off' winches and a number of cranes.

i'd heard about those biccys bbc, apparently now just too soggy for dipping in yer tea. thanks for posting the photo!

but yesterday afternoon i saw what looked like a beech C-45 in dark earth and green on circuits at
coventry airport. it was just too far away to see what the markings were but i suspect that it was test
flying after repair work. first time i've seen one at the airport.

Be sure to stay far away when they start towing it out. My mother worked at Maersk once, and her boss had to inform a family that the person had been chopped in two when the cable connecting the oil rig and the tow boat broke....

Well, not over anything & definately not my house but I thought it was strange enough to post.  When I drive to York for work, I pass Pocklington Gliding club on the way.  Outside one of the sheds is the fuselage of a Shorts 330, no wings, tail or undercarriage.  It seems to have had a pair of wheels attached mid away, the best I can think is that it's used as a trailer or mobile storage.  Very unusual.

And a complete aside, but I found out yesterday that Heslington Hall, one of York University's buildings was HQ for 4 Group Bomber Command during WWII.  I've been working here for 4 years & never realised, as I've never needed to go into that building before.  There's a memorial plaque on the wall in the reception.

perhaps simon, you could do a model of one of 4 group's aircraft? look out for the ken delve book on bomber command
in the library. iirc they moved to transport command after the war.

Hmm, I'd never thought about that Trev.  I've got a couple of Spitfires that were based at Leconfield before the Battle of Britain, from 72 & 616 Sqns.  Leconfield was then under 13 Group Fighter Command, but later in the war became a bomber station & came under 4 Group.  Maybe I could have a Leconfield theme going.  I think Halifax's flew from there, but I'd have to check.  Theres a few locally available books on Yorkshire Airfields & there's 'Hull, Hell & Halifax; An Illustrated History of No.4 Group' that I really could do to pick up.  I've got Paul Bright's 'Air War Over East Yorkshire in WWII' which is a very good book & where I got the profiles for the Spits, it's a while since I flicked through it but it'll probably have a couple of 4 Group Bombers in there.
