Earlier this week the Czech Police EC-145 helicopter came in really low over the centre of Brno, I think it was escorting a van of prisoners to the courthouse.

I was kicking myself on two counts:

1: I didn't have my camera.

2: I was standing at the foot of the hill where the city's cathedral sits, had I been near the top of the hill, the helicopter would have been near eye level.

Would have been some nice pics if I'd been in at the top of the hill with camera in hand. :banghead:

About a month ago, I mentioned that I had seen and snapped a C-2 Greyhound going over the house.  It took me a month to get around to processing the photos.

I told you it was a little blurry.

On the other hand, I did get some nice snaps of one of the local traffic choppers, a Hughes 269.

Nice ones, Jay. I saw a pair of Greyhounds at an airshow a few years back, and was quite surprised how spritely the big fatty was !

Yesterday morning a Czech air force PZL W-3 Sokol helicopter puttered about over the centre of town for a bit.

Later in the afternoon one of their Gripens went over. It was pretty high up, sort of between being barely identifiable and just being a roaring dot in the sky. I could just make out the canards and I know the sound well enough to say she was a Gripen.

No pics, because I didn't realize I live under a flight path again, but last night as I was having a cigar to celebrate the death of Winter, one of CGAS Detroit's HH-65C's flew directly over my house, with it's spotlights on.  I thought it odd since I live about 20 miles from Lake St. Claire.

Then today, after I left work early because my idiocy, BS, and frustration meters all pegged at the exact same time, I was again enjoying a victory over Winter cigar on the back deck, when one of the 107th FS's F-16C's flew over my house.  Pretty low, too.  Scared the crap outta the dogs.

Yesterday we had an Apache Longbow doing a few slow circles over central London, must have been a flight path clearance issue as they normally follow the river through town. Got quite a few looks from tourists and made a change from the regular EC-145 Met Police helo's we usually see doing noisy circles!

Today I was out returning things (overdue library books, an unused alternator belt to AutoZone, useless CAT5 cables to GameStop), and on the way back, I spotted a CH-46 Sea Knight.

Seeing as it was a crapache, I'm surprised it was actually flying. But as it was there, it ewas probably there to keep the Sheple suitasble subdued and compliant...

I am on the lookout for the Singapore A380 bound for LHR at the moment. I nearly missed an Emirates B772LR that went over!

I've mentioned before about the manuevering area that appears to exist on the Humber bank between Immingham and Grimsby.  Walking into work on Friday - gorgeous day with clear blue skies - got to see an F-15 twisting and turning, glinting in the sunlight with afterburner rumbling all around.  Wonderful

I spent the last few days in Somerset visiting family and getting out in fresh air and I've seen a few aircraft. First couple were Hawks screaming past fairly low near Taunton, got a few glimpses of them through the hills.

Was walking up near Withypool on Wednesday when I heard that low roar that signifies a Tornado, turned round and spotted it low down about 3 miles away. That made it too small to get a decent picture but my binoculars were just getting into focus when I realised something odd....

I was looking directly at the Tornado but the noise was behind me and getting louder :o. Span around and just 1 mile away was a second ship, straight and level, low down and in a good spot for the camera if I'd been holding it in time....  :banghead: :tornado:

Got a good natural bonus when I saw a bird of prey soaring high above the river valley, think it was a Peregrine Falcon or Eagle. Need to check the details in a birdbook.

Forgot to post this on Tuesday:

I've mentioned before abot the special ops Chinooks that occassionally use the Army training camp across the fields from our place. Well on Tuesday one came back for the day..... didn't bring any support units so quite literally a flying visit. Been relatively quiet over here for a while, first (unusual) thing I've seen in ages.
