I love that a/c. Looks the way an aeroplane should....and it smokes !

Hehehe, magic!

When I used to travel to Minneapolis from Gatwick on Northwest, I'd arrive there in time to go up on the viewing deck and watch the daily DAS Air Cargo 707 leave for Lagos. It was the last scheduled 707 to operate from a UK airfield and did it ever smoke! I think they operated at max AUW and if they has water injection fitted they must have used it 'cos the smoke display was awesome to behold. You could see the trail long after the aircraft had vanished from sight.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Those older jet engines weren't known for efficiency as it pertained to clean burn. One of the complaints of the F-4 Phantom was its engines smoking gave away its position to opposing fighter and ground AA fire. A lot of money has been expended to make engines cleaner and quieter. There are some airports where the old noisy smokers can no longer fly into/out of...because of noise and pollution standards. The UK from what I read has banned the operation of several of their larger commercial aircraft for that reason...the VC-10 comes to mind.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

The military presence in Tallahassee is minimal, especially compared with where I lived in Virginia.  Accordingly, there's a reduced amount of war memorials and such.  I found this Huey parked outside the local American Legion hall:

The bird's serial number is given on a little placard as 68-157848, but I haven't been able to find any info, and the markings on the bird itself are spurious, just medevac crosses on nose and sides, with a "Brothers of the 'Nam/No One Left Behind" decal on the tail.

Saw a Hawk while I was walking through York.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Went to a bike rally last weekend at a site opposite RAF Turn Hill, so we had Grob Vigilant motor-gliders circling overhead pretty much all day (ATC, I presume) . Didn't take a camera though - sorry!  :banghead:

Flying over central London this evening as I left work, a Sea King.

In black and white Arctic camo! Why the Royal Marines were flying over at that time I don't know.
