The Phantom went years back, Martin, cannot remember exactly when (probably turned into Coke cans by now). The gate guardian position wasn't filled until last month, when we got a plastic Spit I (or II), with 41 Sqn markings..... Cannot think why, 41 was never at Woodvale. It looks really nice though, even down to the sprayed-on exhaust plume. If you want pics, Martin let me know.

No need Ian. But thanks.

While setting up a display for the local archery club at a near by country fair/steam rally. We were graced by a rather clean looking Chinook HC 2 at no more than 2000 feet, heading south west.

We had a cropduster buzzing around the house today, each time he passed I didn't get outside with the camera quick enough to take some pics

Went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed today, and as well as being mind-blown by most of the ground based machinery there (see Motorsport thread) we had some MAGNIFICENT flying overhead during the day too.

There were a couple of interesting sidebars to the flying at Goodwood.

My daughter (the Best Air Traffic Controller in the RAF, not a lot of people know that....) told me she'd brought '558 into Brize last week but didn't know why it was there. Yesterday I texted her and told her I'd worked out the reason as it was scheduled for Goodwood. During the afternoon she kept up a 'running text commentary' telling me the engines had started, it was taxi-ing out, taking off etc.  -_-

A guy I was chatting to at the show was amazed how I was getting live information on '558's status!

Re the Mustangs, I was on the way out of the estate intending to watch the Mustangs from the car park, but the Security staff stopped everyone from leaving as '.....the CAA won't let anyone into the parking area during flypasts as it's inside their 'Minimum Distance' criteria'. So vast numbers of us were trapped just inside the gates.

Then the two P-51s appeared, directly overhead the massed crowds...............!! :banghead:

Hopefully the current cut-backs will prevent this sort of crass stupidity in future.

did you let on kit or did he work it out himself?

all sounds quite amusing.

No Howard, I let him into the secret of my 'inside scource'.  ;D

Anita reckoned that giving '558 take-off permission ranked with her doing the same for the Reds some years ago.

Saw a FRADU Hawk and a navy Lynx on the way home. Lovely clear air today, and there were several large tankers and a cruise ship in and around Weymouth and Portland. Saw a Type 23 frigate yesterday as well.

Mrs. PR19 and I were doing our weekly shop this morning and we both heard a jet overhead. Like true aviators we stopped and looked skyward, causing a major shopping trolly jam behind us.

We were rewarded by the sight of an all-black Hunter T7 cruising over Lydney at around 2500 ft and 300 kts. MAGIC Stuff!  ;D

I thought I'd identified an Avon sound already, but rejected it as not too likely, but luckily I was wrong.

No time to grab my mini-cam sadly but I think it was G-FFOX (WV 318) from Kemble.

Found out that there's to be a major incident 'moulage' simulation about a hundred yards from my office in October.  There'll be a large compliment of Emergency Services vehicles & if all goes to plan, the RAF & Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be bringing their helicopters.  It's on a Saturday, but I'm sure I can find an excuse to be nearby!  I'll post pics if everything works out.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Not over the house exactly but nearby. Art Nalls prepositioned his Sea Harrier at Oshkosh the other day after leaving an air show in St Louis.

Last evening I shot this video of my self photographing the sunset departure of our servicing FedEx Airbus.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Was in the local park with the pink Princess last night and saw a An124 rising from East Midlands Airport, which was nice  ;D ;D

This weekend is the Yeovilton air show, and while I'm not attending due to work, I did see a pair of F-16s on Friday afternoon, on their way to the base. I suspect Belgian or Dutch, and they cruised over at a lovely low altitude going East to West. Then about half an hour later a Chinook (RAF this time) came blattering over in the other direction, going rather quickly and again at a very low altitude. No camera handy unfortunately, but very nice to watch.
