Wow....that Vulcan shot is just wicked ! Looks like he's 4 feet off the ground !

This one was taken a millisecond beforehand, even LOWER!

Saw, and heard, a Venom taking-off from Coventry Airport today, presumably one of Air Atlantique's wonderful 50s jet collection. Sadly too far away for my short zoom lens, and by the time I'd swapped to the big zoom he'd gone.

Just as I was pouring the water out of the kids paddling pool in the garden we all heard a low roar heading our way and looked up....

First was a thick heavy looking bird with big rectangular wings: F4U Corsair!

Just behind was the classis elliptical skinny shape of.. a Spitfire!

Bringing up the rear was a shiny silver, thin and narrow bird with clipped wingtips, P-51 Mustang!

before stepping into the shower this morning, i was called out of the bathroom my a strange sound.
turned out to be a RNLAF 3 helicopter formation flying over, 2 AH-64DN's and a AS532 Cougar  ;D

Yesterday I was teaching a student when an Mi-8 or 17 caught my eye for a second flying by in the distance. Unusually, it was in a high vis scheme rather than the usual camo ones of the air force. I'm not sure if it was the air force VIP transport one or a civil one.

I didn't have my camera, but even if I did I probably would have been more inclined to take pictures of my student, she had much better lines than the helicopter.

Heading back home y'day a 33 Sqn Puma was doing VERY low orbits over Westbury-on-Severn. Why, I have no idea, there's only farm land in the area.

I was able to shoot some 'free-hand' shots through the windscreen though.......  -_-

Army of One

While out in the yard at work today (very near to Battersea heliport) I saw a sea king fly over....dark grey,it would appear, colours with sponsons and not the small inflation bags.....had a thimble radar bump on spine behind the rotor and a similar one like a wart on its nose...dunno nationality....could be anyone as its airshow season......

Was at the East Midlands Aeropark last night repainting the Hunter t7 when an airbus came in to land ( you get a good view from the Hunters wing ) and it blew a tyre on one boggie and as it came to a stop i believe another blew.

Well that was the start of the fun, the airport fire servicr turned up and hosed down both sets of undercarrige, they then escortre her as she limped off the runway , during this time i think at least two other aircraft had missed approaches and were sent around again.

Took about 15mins in total before they cleared the runway and another 5 or so until they had inspected it and reopened it, didn't get any pictures but it was very interesting to see the emergancy services in action and how proffesional they where. Followed it up later and learnt nonone was injured in any way so a result there i think.

Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

bobbo

SWMBO is away for the weekend & I would like to do some plane spotting . . . but the temperature here (at 10:00 EDT) is already 92 degrees F.  My plane spotting may be limited to on line spotting.  And I heard a few F--16s earlier this morning.

Bummer.

Ah right, that's almost cheating.  ;D

I don't count Belugas and other Airbuses I see in the Filton circuit, it's just down river from me.

Yep, and I don't count the airbusses and 737s I see heading in and out of my local airport. Way too common.

I also stopped counting the Zlin 42/142/242 types that I see multiple times a day.

I also tend to ignore the police EC-135 and Bell 412 these days too.
