Forgot to tell you 'bout this one from last week ! :banghead:

Nimrod, Over Formby on Thursday (10th) @ 1535, coming from the east and turning to the north, approx 5000ft and motoring very slowly. (presumably inbound to Warton for it's upgrade).

Yesterday (Monday 14th). Hawk T1 from Valley - they often shoot approaches to LJLA then follow the river and coastline back to North Wales. This one came a little further north and rattled the windows of the station as it pulled left at low level. Very smokey

Here's one of the aforementioned CH-53s.

This past weekend, I went down to Charlotte for a couple of days to see some friends, and I took a couple of hours out to drop by the Museum.  They had done some rearranging since I was there last, and some of the aircraft were in better spots for photos.  Of course, the weather was crap, so some of the shots are darker than I'd like.

Here is the Medal of Honor CH-46, now moved into Helicopter Row.

All of the jets have been rearranged into sort-of chronological order in a fan-shaped array from the parking lot to the runway.  This array now includes a sad pile of junk that used to be an F-100D Super Sabre.  The aircraft is missing the tail, nose section and numerous small panels.

A diddy little Robinson R44.  Noisy bugger, even more than the Alouette!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Last up are some shots of the V-33 Skycat.  This is a homebuilt tilt-rotor aircraft that was designed by a Hal Fogle of Matthews, NC.  Mr. Fogle reportedly worked for Lockheed's Skunk Works back in the 50s-60s, and tried to keep his hand in after he retired.  He read about the military testing tilt-rotor aircraft and decided to build one himself.  It never flew (it's ridiculously underpowered), but was shown to the public at the EAA fly-in in Oshkosh in 1983.  According to the little placard in front, Mr. Fogle is still working on a larger , more powerful variant.

Power was supplied by a V-8 auto engine, mounted in a compartment behind the pilot.

There is an odd-looking fan mounted behind the engine.  Supposedly, this is to provide supplemental lift, and also to aid in maneuvering, via many tiny holes in the airframe.

While I am at my folks here in Delaware I have seen a few things I don't normally see in SLC.
They live about 17 miles south of Dover AFB, home of the C-5.  Seen several of these big birds fly over and some C-17's also.
My mom is in the hospital in Dover so we drive up each day.  The cargo planes have been shooting touch and goes, very impressive site to see them fly around you as you drive up Rt 1.  The main runway is being redone so they are using the shorter one and that approve is right beside the road.
Managed to get in the Air Museum there yesterday.  Lots of good stuff but you will have to wait till I get home to post the pics as I left the cable for the camera home  :banghead:

Heard a very familiar roooaaaaar over the house this afternoon, Rolls Royce Merlin like. Ran out, just in time to see P51 banking a bit further and coming back.

Scandinavian Hystoric Flight P 51 "Old Crow" is back

After an engine refurbishment he is now back at his base of operation in Antwerp. He will stay in the country and will be at Deurne (Antwerp) or Wevelgem (Kortrijk) for the next airshowseason. Seems Belgium is centraly located in Europe so it will be easy to fly to most shows

Unfortunately, my camera wasn't on hand but here's a picture from last year for those of you that don't know this aircraft (unlikely, I know )
