I watched and took pics of a Red Tailed Hawk being attacked by a small group of Crows over my house. The Hawk did everything it could to shake the Crows after a long and most impressive display of flying at low level it used the one ability the Crows couldn't match...altitude. It climbed as fast and hard as it could to reach a height where the Crows could no longer sustain themselves...several thousands of feet. The Hawk orbited until the Crows gave up and left the area. The Hawk landed in one of its favorite trees and sat there tending to its plumage and catching its breath.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Crows can be very bold & clever.  My dog once scattered a small bunch & turned back looking very pleased with herself.  One of them reeled around & went straight at her, intending to attack her immediately from behind, the only way it any advantage.  When it got close, I ran at it, the dog turned around to take a nip & the crow decided against it.  Still, I was quite impressed at how it weighed up the situation, found it in it's favour & had a go!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

This past weekend, my girlfriend and I were returning from Germany by train.

Our train had a stop in the central town of Pardubice. Just ahead of the station was a small lot witha MiG-21 and a BMP-1 vehicle sitting on it. I wasn't quite fast enough with my mobile camera to catch them.

Interestingly, about a year ago, we were on a train stopping at Pardubice and that lot had the MiG-21 and an Mi-24 Hind on it.

Wonder what happened to the Hind...

Big snowstorm here in Sarnia last week....many a motorist stranded. The boys from 424 Squadron in Trenton rescued 75 or so....great job, guys !

First thing I saw was the WDIV news copter

Then I saw a Herc in the distance

Believe it or not, the snowstorm was so bad about a mile east of us, that I couldn't get over to the airport to take any pics....all the roads were closed !
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

The next day

The boys later brought in their own fuel

No Plane Spotting here in Delaware today . . . 35 mph winds, snow falling almost horizontally, expecting 8 - 12 inches plus serious drifting when all is said and done.  Even the sparrows are holed up somewhere.

I'm going to brew a pot of tea, grab a few munchies and relax the rest of the evening.

And a belated Merry Christmas to all!

Ultra-clear  Christmas Day here on the west bank of the Severn, and the westbound airway that runs directly overhead was STACKED with traffic USA bound! Piccies later (the SD card is jammed in the camera......  :banghead:) but who the devil wants to fly across the pond on Christmas Day? Do they serve Chrimbo Dinner on board?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

How about a couple passers by...

Won't be able to take a picture of it, light would be too low, but there's a Trip-7 inbound to KCLE after being diverted from Newark. Origin Shanghai.

Not really over my house today, or yesterday but rather at my place of work; the former B.F.P.O. four and threpence.

Took us an hour and half till we could safely tow it up to the Terminal!!
The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

Not able to take pictures - not at 60 mph, anyway, - but yesterday I watched a c-17 do a "Baghdad Approach" to Dover AFB.  Now, I've seen c-5s do that before, but the c-17 seemed like a fighter as to maneuverability compared to the c-5!  Wow!

Were the pubs busy in Alte Weeze again?
"Inconceivable!"

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

On the way to York yesterday, passed a convoy of ten or more Jackal armoured cars.  Looked slightly unusual as the drivers & passengers were all wearing motorcycle helmets.
