They need to get out of the light pollution of the metro area to actually enjoy it.

What there will be left, after Musk gets his fleet into LEO... :banghead:

While heading east along the A14, en route to Norfolk/Suffolk for a pre-Xmas break, we were buzzed at a pretty low level by an A-400M Atlas which had delusions of being a road sweeper I think.  ;D

I had the sunroof cranked open at the rear and I heard the Atlas coming quite a time before it shot overhead and I was wondering what the strange noise was!

Just after 9 this morning, a total of  six Texans in line astern over our garden.   All at about 500 feet and VERY noisy.

Wish I could post the video. That sound ! Always nice to stay on the Detroit River waterfront in Windsor, ON, and see the   Chinooks follow the river.

Seen repeatedly all morning;  either a small fleet of Ospreys or a single one shuttling busily back and forth.................probably between Stirling Lines (the SAS place at Credenhill near Hereford)  and Shobdon airfield..      I assume that the gentlemen in sandy berets got the use of a new toy for Christmas.

The USAF have a Special Operations Forces unit at Mildenhall, flying CV-22B Osprey, I expect that you are seeing one or two of those birds in action. They are impressive to watch.

It certainly second-handed that helipad!  :o

Interesting that the nacelles aren't vertical with the engines off and they weren't at the same angle when it took off either. Something fell off it as it climbed away too, looked like a catapult strop, but it hardly needs one.

I love it that they can dry their washing on the handy clothes rail back near the tail too, very convenient.

That was just grass or debris flying up in front of the cameraman.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Potato-cam picture of a DC-10 tanker used to drop fire retardants on the Palisades fire here in LA:

It was flying East for refueling/reloading and was about 5 mi/8 km away when i took this picture.

I believe it's this aircraft:

I live about 8 miles/13km from the Palisades fire. The closest it got was to the Mandeville canyon area to the north on Saturday. The air quality is currently good, but there's a lot of ash everywhere. The winds were unbelievable last week and the humidity was very low. The fire fighters have been incredible and we all appreciate the invaluable help from Canadian fire fighting aircraft and fire fighters from outside the area. I know quite a few people who lost their homes in the Palisades.

Good news for you, Frank; hope it stays that way - or far away.

Yeah, we all b!tch and moan and snipe at each other, but when help is needed, we're there. Nice to see some positives for the Human Condition.
I saw an article where the fella who found his house still standing was put in touch, by the BBC crew who filmed them at it, with Fire Truck 10 who saved it; hugs all round.  <_<

We need more fire bombers - if it takes a significant amount of time to get the job done, well - the sooner you start, the sooner you have more...
