Now a 1940's Merlin helicopter, that'd take some whiffin'! ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Good idea, but considering the turbine engine for the Helicopter was yet to be developed, lets power it with 3 Merlins! That means a great large box on the top of the fuselage!

Mossie

Think you should build it Thomas!

Back in the dawn of time there was a big chopper powered by Merlins, or one of them anyway.

The Cierva Air Horse had one mounted slap bang in the middle of its over-large fuselage. I saw it fly at Farnborough, but can't remember that it sounded anything like a P-51 or a Spitfire!

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Over the weekend saw a SAR Sea King, the Humberside Police MD902, an unknown short haul airliner (not my strong point) & a Herc, all almost literally over the house.  The Herc was the only unusual one, it was a stretch so it'll have been a C.3 (C-130K) or C.4 (C-130J).  Saw a Lynx AH.7 over the Uni about an hour or two ago.

Caught this CRJ-2 flying past as it was making its evening approach a little while before sunset.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Lovely pic, with the sun glinting off the nose!

Seen these over the past week.

Haven't seen too many Hueys flying around recently.

DC-10 cargo actually flew over me at work.  Just happened to have the camera in the car.

Squadron of B1-RDs.  Pretty tight formation.

Ok, Pelicans heading north.

Looks to me to be a squadron of White Pelicans.

Ok, Pelicans heading north.

Wonder if they'll end up in Calgary, every year a flock of about 50 pelicans summer on the Bow River in and just south of Calgary.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

If they were following I-15, that just may be where they were going.

AWACS!  Sentry AEW.1 over Hull Uni, saw him breifly before he went into cloud.  Although Waddington isn't too far as the crow flies, I've never seen one flying before except at the Airshow.

Some twin engine jobby on the way home, actually detoured to try & identify it (geek!)!!!!  Still didn't manage it, it went right over top of me, but a quick check Google for HUY arrivals shows it was an Eastern Airways Jetstream from Aberdeen.

A Jet Provost T5, of all things, flew over me while I wass driving along the A40 west of Oxford today. It was in the red/white ex-RAF scheme and quite low, around 2500 ft, and heading for Staverton approx. I think I'll run past there tomorrow and see if it landed.

I think this guy is aware that I am photographing him each time he makes his inspection tour...today he got down low and did his turns tight around my place.
