Not exactly over MY house yesterday, but over HM The Queen's house.

I was at the Knights of the Garter ceremony at Windsor Castle yesterday (as a spectator I might add.......) and we must have had every one of BA's 747-400 fleet fly over, let alone numerous BA 777s, A320s, A319s etc. I also saw my first 'in service' A380 as well. A Qantas MegaJet climbed out just before the event started, and it was notably quieter than the -400s. It ain't half BIG too!  :o

Interestingly ATC stopped the flights leaving, or at least sent them elsewhere, during the Knight's parade down the Castle Walk, which took about 10-15 mins. Not one aircraft went o'head during that period and only resumed once they were inside the Chapel.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

My wife's Dad was REME, and he was stationed not far from Windsor Castle, the 'Married Quarters' were directly under Heathrow's flightpath and when we were visiting I used to spend my time sitting in the outside recliner just watching the show.  I saw the Concorde a number of times there and have to say there were quite a few smaller airliners that were much noisier than the Concorde when they passed over.

BAC111's and Tridents defiantely qualified as noiser that COncord, but they were lovely little birds all the same. I'm just a few miles from Windsor and still in the heathrow TCA, so I get dozens of assorted passanger jest fly overhead every day. It's still interesting to watch them now and again but nothing really worth reporting on, so I don't bother unless there is somethin g worth talking about. Ironically I had some form of fast jet go screaming over head yesterday heading south East to Noth West, but all I managed to see was a black smusge against the sky. I guess it was at about 500ft under Special VFR Rules and well out of the airliners play area!!

I saw a pair of F-22s over the river yesterday, but they were too quick for my camera.  There are regular H-60 flights back and forth all day long, and I snagged a couple.

Last evening I heard a helo but couldn't see it, then while I was shooting pictures of the sun setting it popped up over the nearby airport. Had I ventured out a few minutes earlier I might have gotten it while it was centered in the sun.  :banghead:

Also the other day we were getting a much needed rain. Caught ThedaStar returning from an accident site, it was flying ever so low and very slowly in a rain squall as it passed over head. Visibility was fair but the rain was pouring down.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Saw a white/grey/black Sea King fly past work today. Not seen that camo style before but I guess it was one of the Royal Marines Commando variants. Looked rather like Norway winter camo to me.
Yesterday there was a Royal Navy Lynx with red doors and nose.

Also caught the end of the flypast last Saturday for the annual Trooping the Colour parade. A pair of Tornado's with a Tristar and then the Red Arrows zoomed past!

Last month a UH-60 went by with the huge refuelling probe sticking out. Guess it was going to do some SAR work.

A CHC Dauphin buzzed over earlier, dropping the Roughnecks off at Humberside Airport from the local gas rigs.  An airliner went over not long after, quick check showed it was a KLM bird on it's way to Amsterdam.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The locally owned and operated R44 was busy yesterday.

I was caught flat-footed this afternoon, outside without a camera, when four CH-53Es flew over.  Those twelve turbos were deafening!  I haven't seen that many up all at once in a long time.

Was stuck in the traffic hell that is the run-up to Glastonbury :banghead: and there was a Sea King buzzing around for well over an hour - looked to be a SAR variant, as it had the big winch pod on the side. No idea what it would have been doing.

And then when I was almost home, I saw an autogyro (!) at a couple of hundred feet. Never seen one flying before. It was white and red.

When I returned to the UK for the first time in 21 years back in 2001 I stayed with my Uncle who lives in East Morden Alun, there's an Ultra Light airfield not far from there which he took me to see. It's on the little road called Newton Road which runs between East Almer and Sturminster Marshal and when we visited it there was a number of gyros there that weekend. 'Course, Tarrant Rushton isn't far from there either, went there too to see a Fly-In.

Aha, that would likely be it! I must check that out, as I'm not too far from there.

My memory is playing tricks on me, we went to look at Tarrant Rushton but most of the airfield is gone (you can just make out the runways but the perimiter road is still used) and we went to Henstridge to see the Fly-in (this was the end of August, beginning of September time).  It's a bit further north towards Yeovil but there's a lot of General Aviation and Ultra Lights there.
