Something you don't see everyday: last week, the newly restored F-86 "Sabre Hawk One" flew right over!  One of the ex-CAF pilots involved (Dan Dempsey) had been sending me progress photos of the restoration progress over the past year but I had no idea they were coming to town because our 'net has been down more than up for the past couple of weeks.  Sorry I didn't manage to get a pic of it overhead but here is what she looks like in all her restored glory:

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I spent yesterday at the Airdrie Airshow (just north of Calgary) and watched the Snowbirds and Sabre doing their dispay, I went especially to see the Sabre flying as it's my absolute favorite jet.  I only had my little Sony Cyber-Shot with me and the batteries went dead on me (my wife had taken it to where a display of cars were and by the time I got it back, all the power that was left I used up taking a bunch of photos of a Piaggio Avanti) so no photos of either the Sabre or Snowbirds, which I might add was one of the best displays I've seen them do.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Marine One flew over my house an hour or so ago. I've got the camera out for the return trip, but nothing so far. Saw a C-17 in CLE's landing pattern when I was getting food around 5:15.

This just rumbled overhead...bound for OSHKOSH! A thunderstorm is just about to roll in, he's just going to make it in before it hits.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

This just flew over heading south towards OSHKOSH...a Breezy!

Seeing that brings to mind one of my favorite quotes from the original Star Wars:

"You came in that?  You're braver than I thought."
"Life isn't divided into genres. It's a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky."-Alan Moore

I asked for rain, but I didn't expect it to be delivered in this way...another one bound for AirVenture.

It's nice to know that in these economically tough times the US gov't can find ways to both invade your privacy and waste your taxes ! This is the new spy blimp thing that will be hovering over the St. Clair river to keep an eye on things......I guess it has some fancy gear dangling from it. I'm gonna go get a better pic of it next time I'm down by the river.

1655 Local..... Walking toward the farm at the back of our road.... I THINK I saw a bubble-top Spitfire following the dunes south presumably heading for Liverpool Airport. To be honest it was backlit by very strong sunshine, and at least a couple of kilometers away; it was the sound that gave it away, nothing sounds like a RR Merlin

Later as I cycled along the dune path to work I was buzzed by an autogyro which was holding whilst waiting to get into the Microlight airfield just a kilometer east of the dunes.
