Do they rappel with the dogs strapped to them?

If they were Police Feline Teams they could just chuck the cats out and they'd land on their feet and wander off.

Oh - how Rude!
Some folk have no consideration, do they?

;)

There was some light plane buzzing around a day earlier and of course being next to the bandit country that is Cowgate, the police helicopter was buzzing around too.

Rheged

A few minutes ago, two small black microlights circling Chateau Rheged.   Our place does have a very distinctive shape from the air, so they may merely have been using us as a way-marker.  On the other hand, perhaps  I'm not important enough to rate a proper black helicopter.    I wonder where I put my tinfoil lined hat?

Yes, they do. Amazing dogs, they are.
A fun side story is that when they're here, we often meet them when walking our little mini schnauzer in the morning, and that daft little rat always tries to cock himself up despite any of these police dogs being big enough to just use him as a snack..  :o

It's for when there's not enough of a threat for the full heli- borne team...  ;D  :o

Yesterday evening a P-51 flew overhead, which was a rare treat. We see the occasional Spitfire, but never one of these.

From Ferring Country Centre (West Sussex) 5 mins ago - south of FCC, probably just over the coast heading east towards the Brighton area, I swear it was a Grumman Albatros.

Possibly this one https://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=90176?

Captain Canada

Nice ! I've yet to see the International Test Pilot School bird in London, ON, fly. I just missed him doing water landing circuits in Lake St. Clair a few years back. We were out on the Seadoos, and whn I looked at the radar later there he was ! Now that would have been something.....

The late Mrs_PR19 and I saw an Albatross do its water thing at the SeaWings 2000 show on Southampton Water. It's a BIG aeroplane, much larger than I thought 'cos it looks the same as every other Grumman 'Bird Boat', except a Duck of course.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yep, checked FlightRadar 24 and cross-checked Southampton Airport movements and 'twas indeed an Albatross, N98TP to be precise (https://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N98TP.html).

about an hour ago, the Red Bull B-25 Mitchell bomber overflew my house, heading for the UK

It's the big airshow season here in the UK. D-Day fever has descended on Duxford and North Weald so I expect to see a few Daks and Spits go over. Shame that the BBMF can't take part but after the tragedy who can blame them.

zenrat

Heard in the distance but didn't get to eyeball a Huey.  VH-UEI according to Flightradar.  Ex Israel, Rhodesia, and Oman.

Given the average age of the residents of Mornington I can imagine it causing a few flashbacks.

a nice unexpected flypast this afternoon, with 5 autogyro's flying in a V-formation.

Mossie

An unusual one, a Dasault Falcon 20. It's operated by Draken Europe (ex FRA).  I've seen them on Flight Radar operating over the North Sea but it's the first time one's come over my house.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
