Ah, Independance Day!  Four of the 107th's F-16C's just flew by about a mile to East of me, maybe 5000 feet up.  I expect to see them later, as well as some of the Michigan ANG's and Michigan NG's other flying machines (KC-135's, A-10's, UH-60's, CH-47's).

Saw a C-130 the other day, flew right over my house on approach to Selfridge.

It's crop spraying day today all around our house, but after yesterdays wobbly pop session around the firepit, my eyes are all blurred today, I can't seem to get a clear shot of the duster.  This pic is all that came out clear enough to post.

Not me, but my dad - he works not far from the range at Donna Nook.  He was driving home yesterday and saw a C-17 over there, popping flares!  B*stard!

Was outside having a few pops with the neighbours when this KC-135 flew over. Get back on your own side, eh ?

While on holiday on Turkey saw a Ka-32 pass over, twice.  It had a bucket strung beneath it & second time there was a wisp of water vapour leaking from it.  Firefighting duties, temperatures were 450C plus, we saw a small scrub fire one day that the locals managed to put out themselves, the vegetation on the hills was just waiting for the tiniest spark.  I had a camera on hand both times, but unfortunately the buildings nearby limited my view of it. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:  It was a noisy fecker!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Not today, but recently I was "treated" to a fire-bombing demonstration and I was in the front row! A fire had broken out in 107-degree heat (FELT like Centigrade, but wasn't!) and wind in a dry field I was approaching by car. The smoke was blowing 90-degrees across the road, so traffic was being stopped by local Sheriffs. I was the "lead" car. I heard a somewhat familiar ROAR! and this Grumman S-2 Tracker (twin Pratt-and-Whitneys!!) flys LOW (less than 75 feet off the ground) and then pulls up with a huge pink cloud spilling out of it! The retardant hit the flame wall PERFECTLY and knocked it out. I *WISH* I had had the camera ready, as it was a spectacular sight and would have made a spectacular photo. But, oh! The sound of those engines!

Photos (not mine, regrettably) show a standard Navy Grumman S-2, and then another photo shows a Lockheed Neptune making a drop with the close-up drama I experienced with the S-2.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Fantastic!  I'd love to see water bombers more often, but I'm also kind of glad I live in a place that isn't susceptible to that kind of thing!

hmm, quite its the only way that this ever happens.

i still kick myself for buying some film and disposable cameras the thursday before going to fairford in um 2002 or
was it 2003 or was it for the much missed airshow at coventry airport.

damn! i walks to work and the canberra B2 based at the airport takes off on final show practice sortie as i walk
along rowley road.... right over my head no warning would've made a great picture and i'd let the cameras at home!

Bright & shiny Thunderbirds style airport fire engine, piggybacking on a lorry.  'London Luton Airport' was plastered on the side, along with the number 3.  Just off the ferry in Hull from Rotterdam, so I guess it's brand new delivered from the continent.

On my Geology field camp last month we stayed at Navarre Beach, FL just outside Elgin AFB & Hurlburt Field.  Lots of interesting things in the air...  I saw a V-22, MH-47's, MH-53's, MC-130's & other C-130's.  At night I heard lots of bombing and rapid-fire cannons - boom, boom, boom, bbrrrrrrap, bbrrrrrap...  It's a very active base with lots of SF aircraft.

Locally, I see US Coast Guard HC-130's & HH-60's virtually daily on the air or at St.Pete/Clearwater airport.  Occasionally, I'll catch a glimpse of a KC-135 or F-16's or F-15's going to MacDill AFB.  The Bayflite air ambulance & Sheriff's Dept. helos are also very common here.  The Bayflite seems to fly a regular schedule over our house.
