AD! take train from manchester airport station to liverpool lime street next time you are over this side of the pond.

I-H-G may even be off work and trying to relax when you get there, failing that there's DKS or worse still me,  ;D

a Navy Lynx, not that unusual, however this one was sporting enormous patches of Dayglo Orange (nose/cabin doors etc)

Sounds like the one I saw with the Black Cats the other day.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Two Puma's were circling above York Uni, before disappearing.  Twenty minutes later, they were back again.  Another twenty minutes late, a Lynx AH.9 came overhead, quite slow in a lazy arc.  In between these, a little Microlight buzzed over.  I haven't really seen anything much since I got back off holiday.  Aircraft are like buses, you none for ages then several come at once!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A UH-60 eastbound, KC-135T also e/b at high altitude, and a FEDEX DC-10 - nice change from the Airbus they usually fly into here...

And on the way home from York yesterday, no less than NINE sail-birds all in the air once!  Taking advantage of the best conditions we'll have had for gliding for weeks.  With the helicopters too, it was a good day!  Probably won't spot much of interest for months now!

Hornets!  Might not sound exciting to some but a trio of them kept circling our house today and then heading back into town (for the opening ceremony of the Indy 500 race).  One of them did a solo pass directly over our house and lit the cans....my daughter has suddently decided that an airshow would definitely be too loud for her.

Not much new in the skies over me these days. I did see a twin turboprop transport the other day and thought it might be an Antonov AN-26, but at the hight and distance it could just have easily been an Austrian Airlines Dash 8, we see those with fair frequency here.

However, I did see a news story recently that may increase Hind and Hip helicopter sightings over the city.

Apparently the air force base at Prerov (a couple of hours north of here) is being shut down either permanently or for upgrades and the Hinds, Hips and some other helicopters that are based there will soon be moved to the base at Namest nad Oslavou which is a mere 30-45 minutes west of here.

I hope that will increase the number of flyovers we have of those types, but I'm not really sure it will. Namest has a unit of L-39 Albatrosses and we hardly ever see them over the city.

Was outside two nights ago, enjoying a stogie and a beer, when about a half mile to the north of me (behind me) I heard the distinct quiet whine of a KC-135R's engines.  About 20 minutes later, another flew the same path into Selfridge.

Stopped at the book store today and had to avoid a guy walking through the parking lot, looking up at the sky.  When I got parked and got out, tried to find what he was looking at.  A Skycrane had just flown over.  Probably one of the Firebomber versions but didn't get a good enough look.  There was one that stopped at our Airport 2 one or two years ago that I got permission to go out and photograph but this one wasn't out there when I drove by later.
