So I've been in my new place for a couple of weeks, soaking up the atmo and shooting targets of opportunity, when suddenly I realized I hadn't posted any pictures.  My new apartment is just a few blocks from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth Marine Terminals and assorted other points of interest.  I apologize if anything's blurry, but a lot of these were shot on the fly.

Navy H-60 (not sure if it's HH, MH or SH)

Cranes from the aforementioned terminals

San Antonio class LPD (you can just see an Aegis cruiser off to the right)

No vehicles here, I just liked how the sun came down through the clouds

A Storm Trooper was patrolling the University campus!  Plenty of rebel scum to be found here...
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I saw two RAF Merlins just past noon today over Bishop Auckland heading north at low level, sorry no pictures I was in a stream of traffic at the time and we've had a bit of snow so no sudden stops  ;D

F-15's, heard two, saw one.  Seem to see these more than RAF aircraft these days.

Out the living room window I spied this B757 arriving at KATW with the NFL team Texans from Houston that played the Packers today. I expected him to use a different runway which would have put him over the house. He landed during a snow squall with gusty high winds. Did I mention it was cold outside? IT STILL IS!

Forgot about this one...

And this one just before the leaves were all blown away from the wind and snow

Check wheels down, cleared to land...

As I was arriving home from work this morning, I heard the distinctive thump of helo rotors, but I couldn't tell immediately where they were coming from.  Gradually I got my bearings, and the sound emanated from the east, over the river.  As I said, it sounded like a helicopter, but not one I was familiar with.  I got just a glimpse as the bird flashed through the clearing at the end of the block.  I'm not 100% certain, but it looked an awful lot like a Lynx.  I'll have to check the news, see if any British or other ships have put in for port calls or whatever.

been a very interesting day.

-Fokker 50 (Royal Netherlands Air Force, serial U-05)
-CH-47D (Royal Netherlands Air Force, D-???, overshoot to koksijde)
-C-130H (Belgian Defence, CH-09, low pass over Koekelare)

-all kinds of things.

The Ramona airport nearby has a core of warbird enthusiasts, as well as aerobatics, and fire-bombers (put OUT fires, not start them!). So I often hear deep-throated engines overhead.

Hearing TWO, out-of-sync throaty engines, I ran out of my house and saw these two AT-6 (SNJ or whatever) Texans in formation cruising around the area. I couldn't see any markings to tell if they were painted up as mock-warbirds or just nice, civilian cruisers.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

In a classic case of me not grabbing the camera when I should have, an Army CH-47 just flew over.

It seems the two Army Air Corps Lynx were a salute to a funeral of a lad that died in Iraq not so long ago.
RIP
