Well, Lake Athabasca in Northern Alberta/Saskatchewan is about the size of Belgium, and then the Great Slave Lake and Great Bear Lake in the NWT and Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba are about the size of Belgium and Holland and probably some of the little countries theres about all put together, and of course the Great Lakes aren't called that for nothing you know, then there's Hudson Bay about the size of France  -------- ;D ;D ;D

You never know who might creep in, the Bow River that passes through Calgary eventually empties into the Atlantic

Well of course being an Alberta boy I know there's lots of "big water" out there.

Maybe they need to clear lanes for the CL-215 and CL-415 water bombers.

Or perhaps keeping the hydroplane lanes around Fort Chip is a big job in itself.

God knows they'd have no business in Edmonton. I dont think there's a point deep enough in the North Saskatchewan through Edmonton that you could completely submerge anything beyond a tire, rubber boot or a body in. The silly river boat kept getting hung up on the sandbars that they had to stop running it and keep it permanently moored.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Well, I got really drunk one night and some buddies stuck a FedEx label on my head.....

Seriously,  I came over here about five years ago to be with girl. Jana and I had been pen friends for about four years prior to me coming over here and I had been getting increasingly tired of my old career in graphic design and was itching for major change in life. I took a course to get my ESL teaching certificate and bought a one way ticket from Edmonton to Prague. Roughly five years later, no regrets.

Cool

I got a call from the Manager of the Red Deer Regional this morning (I had called on Saturday but no one was there) and she confirmed it was the Casa C-212 I saw.  She said I would probably see more of it in the next little while as it's here for six weeks doing a geological survey in the area.

Hawkeye

A strange buzzing sound was heard today...barely noticed it (it's WINTER and the windows are closed) but when I peeked out what did I see...

Fortunately I had a camera sitting next to me and was able to snap this. Let's see how many know what it is...be careful!

Looks to be a Basler BT-67 judging by the wingtips and five-bladed props on the turboprop engines.

I didn't have the camera with me but yesterday the Czech police Bell 412 was buzzing around and area where I was teaching.

Hawkeye, can you make out the reg on that?  I wonder to whom that example belongs.  A lot of them are operated by special operators trying to maintain a low profile.

Mossie

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Logan Hartke

Yeah, I figured it was coming from home since I knew Basler had its home base right up by where Hawkeye lives, but I didn't know it was theirs.  Thanks, Mossie.

I saw this crazy "hang-glider" skirting the mountaintop behind my house, and nearly running into boulders, then realized at least it had motive power. And no, it wasn't trying to circle the moon, it just looks that way in the picture.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!
