nothing much today except a belgian Defence force Seaking Mk.48.
and it was the one in that sexy black color scheme with the 25th anniversary markings from 2001

Snap!  Spotted an RAF SAR Sea King out the back window, wife thought I was nuts for darting across the house to get a look!

A couple of pics I took about a year & half ago.  Possibly the same machine as only two operate out of nearby RAF Leconfield.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

This ones for Todd - and kinda goes with the last 2 ;)  Its been at Humberside Airport for a couple of months now, but this is the first time its flown right over the house close enough for a photo.

Heck, Todd will be having Raptures.  Squeakings are like buses, none for ages then three come at once! :drink:

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

as i was playing on my Xbox this afternoon, i was suddenly spooked by 2 loud Sonic Booms  :o
my entire room and shelves were trembling.
at first i thought there was an explosion at the nearby chemical plant, but on the news it appeared to be caused by 2 Belgian Defence F-16AM's from Florennes AFB.

they were scrambled to intercept an airliner over the north sea after ground control failed to communicate with the aircraft. by military regulations it is forbiden to go Supersonic over populated areas at medium altitude.
apparently the pilots (both walloons) didnt think of that.

result:
-broken windows and police phones ringing of the hook in Gent
-collapsed seeling lighting in a furniture store in Brugges
-concerned parents here at my house

The pilots will be getting quite the bollocking today then! I've never experienced a sonic boom...
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Mossie

Maybe it was deemed an emergency, that might explain the sonic boom?

Several years ago we had an aircraft incident that caused a lot of people to complain about the noise, but the aircraft was going slow.  It had full afterburner on & was hardly going anywhere, my guess is that it was a Tornado (too dark to tell for sure) in some serious trouble.  Many people reported an aircraft with 'lights at the rear'.  The RAF stated in the local paper that the only aircraft they had with lights at the rear were tankers & transports, which weren't in the area at the time.  They didn't mention if they had any other aicraft around, I guess they wouldn't want people thinking there had been a Tonka at risk of falling out of the sky.

Supersonic fighters are, from what i read in the media, not that uncommon over Denmark. Just sucks that they avoid me... (or is it just the media exagerating...)

Sounds to me that a good crack from a bolt of lightning would have done the same thing. What do you consider medium altitude? Anything over 10,000 feet shouldn't have any ill effects on the populace. I've lived where the military would break the barrier on a daily bases and nothing other than a boom was heard. Now if they dropped down lower than 10,000 feet, there might be a little rattle.  Blame the broke glass on defective installation...had mum gotten made and slammed a door, it would have broke anyway.

Think I saw a Puma.  I was in the works van about an hour ago & heard some loud clattery rotors.  Managed to spot something in the rear view mirror, it was low-ish & fast & seemed to be following the contours of the ground, disappeared over a hill before I could get a proper look at it.

Simon, I drove past Coningsby today and there was a Puma on the pan, so it may have been yours.  Was dinner time so there was nothing moving :(
