Bout 30mins ago, Tonka went past the station heading northwest then banked to the west. Quite slow but bl**dy low. We're at sea level and it went past BELOW our window height !

Tonkas are loud from ANY direction, especially from Denmark. :)

Somewhere I have a pic of a 4-ship GR4 flight taken from the threshold caravan at Lossie, all four in full burner. That was so  loud it HURT, even with ear defenders on.  :o

Ahhhh Kit, don't get me started on memories of Lossie..... first time I ever went up there was in the 'Brick' days....... Glorious, simply glorious......

Ian,

I've been there during the 'Bricks Rule' too.

Just before 208 Sqdn. had to go out to Gulf War 1 (to help the Tonkas do their job....) I was there for almost a week. They were practicing low 'lay-down' drops over Tain Range and came back across the Moray Firth at the same altitude. I hope they didn't meet any ships en route!

The Sqdn. photographer gave me a large  poster size piccie of three Buccs over the lighthouse during their last week of operations, and it's still on my model room now. Fantastic stuff.

Someone was throwing a Zlin 142 (maybe 242) around this afternoon from the local airport.

I could see it from a tram stop where I was waiting. Lots of loops and rolls and quite entertaining while I was waiting for my tram.

Looks like those i saw in Prague. Nasty things, they are everywhere! They are like railways in the middle of the street!

Wonderful things are Trams, there should be more of them  ;D

Sometimes it really sucks, not having a camera.  The last couple of days have been beautiful, with clear skies and highs in the 60s.  I've seen all kinds of machines: WAVY's Chopper 10, a Bell 206 Longranger, a couple of C-130s, a Southwest 737 and this morning, a Coast Guard HU-25.  I was outside walking the dog (we're dogsitting for my dad) a few minutes ago when I heard the unmistakable snarl of big piston engines, coming from the southeast.  I looked back over the top of the house just in time to see a B-25 flying wingtip to wingtip with a P-51!  That was surely a beautiful sight (and sound!) to behold.  I watched them till they disappeared over the horizon.  *sigh*

Y'all are lucky.  All I see are MD-80s and 737s all day long.  The highlight of the past few weeks has been a 777 flying over WAY LOW on his way to DFW, and a Skyraider in gull gray and white I saw a few weeks back.

And, of course, I didn't have a charged camera!

I miss the F-15s, F-18s and A-10s from NAS New Orleans!

No, no, that's a cruddy old Prague tram, we've got some slick new ones in Brno. Here's mine, a Skoda 13T:

And I agree, trams are great things! I love them, they have their own lanes, faster than busses and rarely if ever get hung up in traffic.
