This one is definitely a 747...

KAL Flight 36 Atlanta GA to Incheon South Korea as it passed over my place. This baby was hauling...it had made it from ATL to here over ATW in just under two hours. When I last peeked, it was going feet wet over Hudson Bay in just a little over three hours. Here is its route plan

BAE J101 GRB 4900N 09000W 5400N 09000W
6500N 09400W 7000N 10300W 7500N 11500W
OMEKA ORVIT G494 VIKBI G494 NALEB G494
NINON G494 SIMLI A588 CHI W107 SANKO
A326 DONVO G597 AGAVO Y64 GONAV GAYON

I hightlighted the point why it flies so close to me.

And the pipeline patrol flew over for a second day in a row...heading home this time.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

En route back from my old office, after spending a week helping them out, I drove past Kemble on the way home. Some guy was giving everyone a magic aerobatic display in an Extra 300L (G-IIDI for reggie collectors) This pic was taken as he was WELL over the vertical.

The aircraft scrapping operation that runs at Kemble is doing a land office business in the present economic climate, and they had three Air India aircraft there, as well as an Air Seychelles 767 and a SkuExpress 737 (whoever they are) There was also an ummarked BAe 146 but I couldn't get a pic as a truck was in the way.

The wierd smokey marks are because I was shooting through a chain link fence! Why the devil don't they make the mesh  larger? It's not as if it would stop anyone poking a rifle through it anyway, grrrrrr.........

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Without looking it up, i would say SkyExpress is a Russian LCC.

The Air India 747 would be 747-300 VT-EPX, delivered new to Air India in 1988, exactly 3 years before my birthday.

The Air Seychelles 767 is most likely 767-200ER S7-EXL. It is going to be scrapped. It was delivered new in 1988 to Britannia Airways.

The Sky Express 737-300, was first delivered to Lufthansa in 1986, and has since flown in Indonesia and Brazil, before coming to Russia. If it was a european airline, i suppose it would be scrapped, but given Russian airlines and their relationship with even more uneconomical Tupolev fuel guzzlers, it might only be in winter storage.

Chinook flew over just south (not enough time to grab the camera  :banghead:) heading to the Army Guard base at Airport #2.

They normally have Apaches and Blackhawks but did see two Chinooks last time I drove by.  Not sure if they are just visiting or what.  May have to try and sneak a pic if they stay tomorrow.

Cap'n,

That site has been use for scrapping for some years, but that's the busiest I've seen it since they had 4 DC10-30s in there at once about 4 years ago. I can't help feeling that one of those cockpits would lo0k much better in my garden..... ;)

Seen over Ullswater in the Lake District on Thursday, a C-130 Hercules hopping over hilltops.

On Friday I heard the deep roar long before I saw a Tornado zoom along the length of the lake heading north towards Spadeadam range, nice and low!
All-over grey with a black tailfin, any ideas whose it might have been?

Nick,

Depends if it was a GR4 or an F3. Both XV(R) and 111 Sqdn. have been known to fly black finned examples in their time.

(other squadrons may be available....)

Had two AEW Sea Kings go over Dorchester town centre at about 1.30 today. Haven't seen them around here before...
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

I went out to the local airport today, not a lot was going on, pretty heavy winds were constant around the airfield. Anyway, here's a few to share:

This pic really is more about the Communist era hardened aircraft shelters than the Cessna. I did, however, find it more than a bit comedic to watch a Cessna 172 creep out of a HAS and onto the runway. There are five HAS units that I can see at the end of the runway at Brno Turany airport and I'm told MiG 15/17/19 and 21 all did tenures in them during the Cold War.

This Let 410 Turbolet was just coming in for a landing and was getting tossed about a bit by the winds going across the field. The 410 is a an increadibly quiet aircraft, I didn't know it was coming in until it was almost on the ground.

Across the field and on the apron was this TNT BAe 146. I saw one or two forklifts drive over to it so I was hoping to see it depart while I was there, no such luck.

We were golfing at lunchtime the other day and we saw a USCG Dolphin fly by and return again, also another chopper ( maybe US Customs or Sheriff ? ) and then a thied chopper whcih was red, white and blue and carrying CDN reg. The latter two looked like Squireels or whatever they are called.

Then we were followed around by a bat. That was kind of wierd, seeing as it was high-noon. Got a real good look at him, tho ! Brown and black, with cute little ears....
