We were golfing at lunchtime the other day and we saw a USCG Dolphin fly by and return again, also another chopper ( maybe US Customs or Sheriff ? ) and then a thied chopper whcih was red, white and blue and carrying CDN reg. The latter two looked like Squireels or whatever they are called.

Then we were followed around by a bat. That was kind of wierd, seeing as it was high-noon. Got a real good look at him, tho ! Brown and black, with cute little ears....

you think it could be for that kid who took a joyride from ontario to mizzou in his trainer?

A visit from the Wisconsin Air National Guard's KC-135R. Here it is passing just beyond the trees behind our house.

Here it is passing a neighbors farm just down the road.

Here it is on the back side (downwind) of the pattern.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Yesterday there was a skinhead/Neo Nazi rally in the centre of town so the police were out doing circiuts in their EC135 helicopter for the better part of the afternoon.

I live far enough away from the centre that the helicopter did'nt come close enough for a decent pic, not to mention that the sun was looking straight at me too. I could stand out in the courtyard of our building and see it hovering over the centre in the distance.

Given the occaision for it being there, I'd have prefered to see a couple of fully armed Hinds, but that's hedging on socio political commentary so I shan't ply those particular waters further here.

2 Antonov An-124s just cruised over, headed towards Oslo. One was clearly Polet Air Cargo, the second i presume was Antonov Design Bureuo

just had the Battle of Britian memorial flight C 47 over fly the house, came from the southwest on a north eastern heading...looked like it was heading for home.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Seen several aircraft and other things in flight today.

A Air Ambulance from another community:

The winds and traffic were favorable for aircraft to make their turns over the house today.

Couple of Hawks too:

I love the looks of the Bell 222, but man the skids really spoil the lines on that bird!

I also really wonder why you'd use a Bell 222 for air ambulance work, plently of other airframes out there better suited to the purpose. The 222 is a corporate aviation bird.

Hawkeye

It is based in Marshfield, WI and serves the Ministry Health Care facilities which are mostly rural northern locations. It is own and operated by Air Methods who's based in Denver. Probably cost drives the selection. We have an EC-135C as our unit of choice, the twin engine configuration is a must because of the large bodies of water that cover its service area. Skids also offer better surface floatation on soft surfaces such as marsh land or soft soils...the area it serves has an abundance of that.

Today while out I heard a jet, when I looked up I could see a circular pattern from it at high altitude...it circle three times then departed. Must have been on an exercise. Or maybe another sucidial Cessna pilot from our neighbors to the north was threatening another invasion. LOL Wish the skies were a bit clearer and crisper. AWACS

Early this evening, I had helos from two of the three news channels in town hovering pretty much right over the old homestead - I wasn't hearing any sirens, but I'm thinking there's been some kind of industrial accident or there's a mass murderer on the loose or something. Turns out that a small child down the road had been bit by a dog. Horrible thing to have happen, no doubt, but I wonder what about this merited helicopter coverage? (They got the dog, so no search was underway) Neither station had anything beyond the very basic info that something happened. Nothing about the child's condition; I didn't hear any ambulances, so hopefully it was not too extensive. Two hours later, the best information was coming from the one station that _didn't_ have a helo overhead!

updated: the child (little boy) is in very bad shape. The police took him directly in (explaining no ambulance) as apparently he would not have survived the wait. Luckily we're close to a hospital

Spent the weekend down in Kent, riding on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, where they were having a 1940's weekend. Lots of people in 1940s clothing, loads of military re-enactment people all over the place, they even built a replica of their armoured train for the occasion.

But at luncht time they had a P-51D Mustang fly over the whole length of the raliway, orbiting over all the main stations! Looks like Duxford's 'Big Beautiful Doll' to me, and that Merlin sounded AWESOME! (Packard Merlin, not a Westland helicopter........)

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
