Hi Everyone!

I saw a T-33 flying over my house this afternoon, (Thursday, 21 MAY 2009, around 1600 hrs.)  The sky was clear, nice and sunny, with a slight breeze coming out of the west.

The aircraft was silver gray, dark wing tanks. I couldn't tell who owned it.

I live not too far from McChord AFB, and in the 1960's and 70's (or there abouts), we had T-33's flying in and out all the time.  At least a couple were attached to the 318th FIS (my Dad's old squadron, which flew F-106's), and we had others coming down from Canada (RCAF, then later CAF.)

I hadn't seen T-33's around here for quite awhile, which is why I was surprised to see it!

Thanks, I just wish it wasn't a low overcast day. That plane really pops when in direct sun.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Whilst out for a bike ride yesterday I saw these....

Dept. of Homeland Natsicurity Citation

Nav Canada Chally

Of course I had to pedal home and drive to the airport to see it again....love the paint scheme and the kind of retro FEAF style...

Then I was treated to the usual airshow as it buzzed the airport a half dozen times....but I sat on my porch and watched instead of taking pics.

I'm baaaack!

After weeks of lamenting the loss of my Fuji A330, I decided to take out my dad's Olympus and see what I could see.  The D550 is a dinosaur compared to the A330, but I was able to deal with its shortcomings.  With a memory card, it only holds 21 images, so I had to carefully pick my shots.

First, a Robinson helo (jeez, these things are tiny)

Parked in the Metal Machine Corp drydock is this LPD/LSD thing, so swathed in protective coverings I couldn't make out a name or number.  You can just make out the CIWS, RAM launchers and assorted sensors.

A little further downriver, at the BAE Systems dock is what I think is the USNS Supply (T-AOE-6), a fast combat supply ship, assigned to MSC.

To answer your question, some of what I shot was crap.  I didn't share those, to spare everyone's eyes.  I also took some photos of vintage buildings and such.  I didn't think you'd be interested in those.

Coming back from  shopping in Harlow I spied a DC-3 Dakota flying into North Weald while I waited at traffic lights. Despite being in the distance I could just make out the D-Day invasion stripes on the rear, lovely.

On the other side of the roundabout I glimpsed another plane in roughly the same place which I assumed was another Dakota. Then I realised it was going the other way and had suddenly grown longer wings, 2 extra engines and a much bigger tail......

A real double-take moment not helped by the fact of me driving at the time! The sun is shining and it's baking hot. Todays weather forecast was for heavy rain so I stayed at home instead of going to the Southend Airshow :banghead:

Was out sailing this evening. Saw one DC-3 circling around the area, then a second, then they joined up in a formation and flew away!

The Power Company appears to have restarted line inspections again...

it is a cloudy dreary day here today...this would be better if there was some sunshine!

I suspect I will see it again in another 3-4 weeks...that was the cycle they were on last summer.

A Jet Provost T5, of all things,

Think I've netioned it here before; RAF Woodvale is just a mile and half from my house, there's a former Station Boss who owns (part owns ?) a JP T5/Strikemaster and keeps it up at Carlisle. He comes back to Woodvale with it once or twice a month - last time it was here for over two weeks, my guess is he flew it down, then went off to Manchester to catch his holiday flight  - but as I say that's pure speculation.

Alas, no photos this morning (I wasn't packing my camera), but I saw a pair of F-15s out of Langley fly over as I was leaving the job this morning.  They were noisy, but it was a pleasant noise.
