Not a plane, but this past Sunday some friends of mine and I were at a local park and late in the afternoon some folks launched a couple of balloons right near us.

I'm kind of proud of this picture, not bad for my 1.3 megapixel phone camera!

During my library/post office run, I saw a few things of interest.  The flying machines are here, while the floaty things are in the "Ship Spotting" thread.

This first photo is actually from a couple of days ago.  It's WAVY's Chopper 10, a Bell Long Ranger

This guy was towing an advertisement for a locksmith over the river and downtown area.  From the paintjob and the engine noise, I thought it might be one of those Fairchild or Vultee trainers, but I think it's actually a kitplane or something.

I just managed to snag this guy from the street outside the library.

Spotted this beast, an MH-53E Sea Dragon, on the way home.

Argh....how many times do I have to tell you to stop seeing big helicopters ? Now quit it !

Love the Long Ranger as well. It's amazing how even a plain old bird like that can look cool with a few bits hanging off her ! The atmosphere of the shot is neat as well...

I was at Marwell zoo yesterday (day out with the gf), which is near Portsmouth and Southampton. There was a Chinook thundering around at high altitude all afternoon, and a twin-prop job with weird angular wing- and tail-tips went over at about 5pm.

We had our village fete today.  Because all the proceeds are going towards Help For Heroes we were lucky enough to get a flypast by the BBMF Dakota.  Unfortunately it was chucking it down with rain, so poor light and he had to fly low, which was bad for photos, but exciting on the ground :)

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Good stuff!

Thanks for the ID, JimB - not really up to speed on civvie jobs. :)
