Heading steadily Herefordwards, a lone Herk, doing it's usual droning thing, but with the rear door open!

Perhaps it's on a supply drop for Chateau Rheged?

Trundled over us, but nothing was dropped.   The back door was still open when it passed.  It may possibly have been the local regiment dropping into their "adventure playground" near Ewyas Harold on the Welsh border.

I wonder if they know they're always under observation by the Whiffers Observer Corps, Wye Division?  ;D

So there was I, mowing the lawns, when I was distracted by the noise of a flying machine. I looked up and there, right in the eye of the sun where I could only see a silhouette, was a motorised glider.  Not sure what breed it was, but it probably came from Shobden airfield and had a wing length that  Kit would certainly have approved of.

Oh yes!

It can't have headed this way as I've seen NOTHING airborne for some days now.

Not much but club and training academy aircraft, but it's the weekend so I'm hoping the local DH Venom will be up today or tomorrow for its regular 15min workout...

An AW169 air ambulance of Specialist Aviation Services over Hull city centre.  Quite striking in line green and grey.

Sounds like it was one of the Childrens Air Ambulance helis. https://www.helis.com/database/news/childrens-air-ambulance-aw169/
And yes, that lime green really does stand out!

Missed your post Nick. Yes, I think that's exactly what it was.  My girls get The Week Junior and it's covered in a double spread, definitely the same.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Rheged

According to a four-year-old  girl who lives near to Chateau Rheged "People have been helicopting over us all day"

I was out in the morning, but even after I got back in, we had two pairs of Apaches, three separate Chinooks, an assortment of yellow and black trainers out of Shawbury and even a single FAA Merlin, which flew over very low indeed.   Given that it was heading towards Shawbury, I wonder if it was one of 824 Squadron Fleet Air Arm's  HM2's from Culdrose.   824  have responsibility for all conversion training for Merlin HM2................either that, or he had flown off the edge of his map and was desperately looking for the sea.

If he was over you and heading Shawbury-wards he was a LONG way from the sea! Almost as far as you can get in England.

There always seem to be a couple of Merlins on the ground when I'm visiting at Shawbury, perhaps to show their student pilots what REAL helicopters look like.  ;D

I've got a pic of the Puma 10-ship en route from 'someone I know' at Shawbury. I'll re-post it when it gets  here.

There was a pair of grey Wildcat helicopters flying in and out of Wellington Barracks in London yesterday. Regularly almost every couple of hours. Must have been some big exercise going on.

While at some friends' place in Beaminster, Dorset, we were deafened by an FAA Merlin (ex-RAF version) that decided to try and trim their hedge for them. I don't think I've ever seen a helicopter so low that wasn't landing!  :o :o

I wasn't so much looking UP at it as I was looking sideways at it!  :o
