A Wokka beating its way across a clear blue sky near Sywell today.

I couldn't help wondering how Northants looked to guys in the cockpit, or the LM hanging out of the open rear door as well.

I bet he was a bit chilly though!

Near Hereford  at 2:45 this afternoon. A sick of about 10 parachutes heading for the SAS lines at Credenhill.  Madame R reckons that they were heading for their afternoon tea-break.

It has been a while since I last saw a passenger jet. Now, there has been a Finnair Embraer 190 doing approaches for the last hour or two.

Our airport is playing host to regional competitions so there's been loads of activity around, mainly of the Cessna and Piper variety, but the highlight so far was the local de Havilland Venom flying a display for the participants. I wasn't there but our house is under the approach so I stood in the driveway with a cold drink and enjoyed him passing over and around.

Actually from a couple of days ago, De Havilland DH.84 Dragon ZK-AXI burbled by, following the coast. CAUTION: OBJECT IN PHOTO WAS CLOSER THAN IT APPEARS  ;D

I'm hoping they'll stop here on the way home for fuel. It and several other DH aircraft, and the Anson Mk.I, are taking part in commemorating the centenary of the first flight made in the South Island city Nelson. Apparently they've been doing a roaring trade in scenic/joy flights.

Woke up to a S.O.S. (Sounds Of Summer) that had been not heard much this season so far, water bombers that is. There has been countless Airtractors and helicopters going directly over our roof very low since daybreak, and still continuing now, and here is why:

https://amp.abc.net.au/article/100779164

That is only about a Km or so away and our house is in a direct line from the fire to the airport so that explains that.

I'd try to get some photos but I'm sure everyone knows what a Airtractor and Squirrel type heli looks like and I'm having difficulties with the Imgur app on my phone and my laptop is not working properly so I won't bother.

What I find strange is that when they have been attending other fire's in the region they have shown up on flightradar24, here today they are not. Odd.

I hope any fire is moving away from you!!!

Not sure about that, the wind has changed direction and is blowing towards us now, but there are lots more houses between us and the fire, and I don't think it's threatening the township but it is still burning.

The firebombing aircraft had to be grounded for some time earlier because some dipstick was flying a drone over the fire. :banghead:

Spotted a first for me today too, a civilian Blackhawk heli, that looks rather impressive. It's this one: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/10369530

I believe we have two Blackhawks, if this is so, & VH-UHS is still in the Mount, then I saw the other one fly over my house twice today.

First was directly over the house, flying west with an empty tank (it was flat up against the belly); then about half an hour later flying slightly to the north of my house headed north-east with a full tank.

No reports of fires in the area that I'm aware of. Training run?

Well we had both Blackhawks here then, but they both left yesterday. One I know was red and blue as I saw it going over and while it was fighting the fire but I'm not sure about the other one, it looked greenish I think but it was getting dark when flew directly overhead and was hard to tell.

Looking at flightradar24 today I see that VH-UHS is busy around the Adelaide Hills, sure there's not a fire there somewhere?

No idea, mate. Nothing on the news.

Saw it twice today & dived in to grab my camera on the second run .... & got a photo of half a helicopter. :-\

Our sole Black Hawk, EH-60A ZK-HKU, is in Oz doing firefighting work at the moment so it may have been her. She recently got some yellow bits, presumably for visibility in the role.

Possibly, looks about right but it was showing up as VH registration not ZK on flightradar24 though...

Would they apply a temporary VH rego, the leased American tankers just use their N's...🤔

I doubt it, I expect that would be too much paperwork.
