Not too keen on the folding wing option, but at least it has the open rocket attachment points (which should always be there) and the decals look a bit cack (the printing, not the options apart from the oh so predictable Carmicheal), but it's all good.

Pity I've a loft full of MPM ones...

Very nice.  Now can we have one in 1/48 please Mr Trumpeter?

Regarding those decals, they look like test ones to me, don't resemble the decals in any of my other Trumpeter kits (pale blue backing paper)

I will get one Trumpeter's and then my PM's will be whiffed

BTW, nev: Hobbycraft's Sea Fury is pretty good IMHO, and cheaper a would say.

Sweet ! Looks like I'll have to build me a real RCN one....or two, or three !

I have to agree with Wooksta! about the wingfold, tho. It's nice to have that option, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how good it looks in flying trim.

Looking forward to grabbing some !

That looks a very nice decal sheet.

If I leave off the seperate Maple Leafs, then those roundels can be late war Aussie ones!
And the seperate Maple Leafs can become "kill" markings on 1/32nd Japanese stuff??

I've done a 1/72 RCN sheet for Mike Grant that will have correct RCN markings.  It's printing now (silkscreen).  His 1/48 sheet (also mine) is printed, but awaiting a small correction for a printing boo-boo.

Looks like a Gannet to me.  Hey, we could always go and build the Frog one....

That Xtradecal sheet looks pretty comprehensive

That's exactly what I'm doing.

There's nothing wrong with the Frog kit that some time, TLC and aftermarket won't fix. I've had the RoG reissue of the old Frog kit on the go on and off for more than a year and recently got my hands on the new 4+ book about the Gannet which includes 1/72 plan drawings. I held the old Frog kit against those plans and it hit them pretty much dead on.

As for the Trumpeter Gannet, the worst I'll throw at it, based on viewing the sprues at my LHS, is that it was a very bland and unadventurous kit for Trumpeter considering the sort of detail that we see them go for in other kits. I was surprized that they didn't try for an open weapons bay option and load the box with an extra armaments sprue.

It depends what you're looking for.  If you want something that looks basically like a Gannet, then it's fine.  If you want an accurate scale model of a Fairey Gannet, then it's not.

just a thought re. the Sea Fury, for a number of years iv been trying to determine the colour scheme of Ferranti's trials Sea Fury T.20, overall black?, dark blue?, red?, dayglow? nose and le.

iv a 'Warpaint' profile showing a dark blue scheme, a model review finished in toverall black ('Plastic Kit Constructor' who state an old 'IPMS. magazine' for reference unfortunately one predating my files) and iv seen a model displayed at a recent show again in a blue scheme with an orange painted cowling?

any further thoughts or information would be most helpful...

cheers, Joe Cherrie

Re: the Ferranti T.20.....Dark gloss Blue and Dayglo Red cowling.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

CanMilAir decals out of Ottawa has 3 different versions of decals in any scale you want for RCN Furys.

Initial scheme that they used for the first year, Operational scheme that they normally wore, and the scheme they had when they and the Bonnie were being retired.

Not bad for $12 a sheet, ALPS printed decals.

CanMilAir has all you need for your Canadian aircraft markings....even already has the markings for Canada 1 through 4, our new C-17s!!!
Thanks
