If the radial give the req. power & isnt too heavy, why not?

And prop blades: rounded, squared, scimitar shape ?
Assuming turboprop or piston.

Thanks

Emm, I'd probably try to avoid extra complexity in the engine installation and not go the turbo-compound route; just that much less to take battle damage at a critical moment.  If the existing radial, or a more powerful version of that engine, works, I'd be inclined to leave well enough alone.

would one of those late WW2 or early postwar big fat mammas of a radial engine
work?

i can't recall the hp rating of the usual skyraider/ able dog engine but weren't there
some radials with a hp rating of say 3350hp and more without turbocompounding
but with turbocharging?

Developed R3350s had 3500hp ratings, if you want more in a developed radial, you have to step up to the R4360 which is going to need a rather longer cowl and will impact your all-up useful weight and cg.  At the  high-power end, there's not much option with radials.  I'd be tempted to go with the most powerful non-compound r3350 available, or look into the mods for a suitable turboprop.

The "boxes" in fuselage sides are devices intended to reduce noise and thermal signature. This leads to a redesign of whole cooling system.

BTW: the device with tubes under the plane is the RATO pack that will be attached in airframe's belly.

Very interesting Ysi! I'm very impressed by your RATO pack. That's some fine scratchbuilding!

Looking good.

It depends on the version. See HoE's post in the first page of this thread

Fantastic!

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
