I've just realised that operational variant of the Boeing X-32 would have had a horizontal tail, looked much better, and had been build in full-size mockup.

As there's many, many X-32 kits at the shop, I'm tempted to build one - would this be a difficult task ? Maybe reshaping the wings would be hard...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Hola Archi!!!
That's a wonderful model to build, tough my favorite is the delta Monica
Here's one other angle of it. I'm looking for 3-views...

Yep, lots of differences, and the Italeri kit of the X-32 has shape issues.

Here are some Boeing modelshop marking layouts for the production type (I've posted these previously) :

and for comparison:

Jon's views are killer!!!
Here's a 3-view to complement

Careful with the front end, it sharply goes downwards to meet with the upper intake lips. OOoooo Monica!!!!

The delta may look cooler, but it doesn't work for carrier approach and landing requirements.  That's one reason for the late redesign for the production version.  The story I hear is that the original configuration was done primarily with CFD and little, if any, wind tunnel work and it was only after acquiring McDD and the carrier aircraft expertise of St. Louis that they realized their error and made some hurried corrections.

Do those have 2d thrust vectoring?

Archibald

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you all!
As Rafa said, John the views are exactly what I wanted!

But why the hell is there Dutch markings on the mockup ? (on the photo Rafa posted   )

And thanks Rafa for the dimensions of the modified machine

It probably has Dutch markings because it was at a Dutch air show where Boeing was trying to sell it.  I won't knock the Dutch, Fokker's an excellent partner on the F-35.

Just one thing Archies before going cutting up an Italeri/Revell X-32 kit, theres a nice build on a dutch modellers site that deatils the work needed to make the Italeri kit accurate as they rushed the kits out based on mock up shots rather than actual drawings !! (Same goes for the X-35 and F-18E !!)

Some of the Mods described should help get the F-32 looking right (the wings are too far back and intake too wide on the kit ). Looks like you may need to use and X-35 Canopy for the F-32, but that X-32 might fit the Convair 200 with some adjustment ?.

Another piece of the puzzle, Evan!!!

I have always had the curiosity about such a sudden change of design. After having a "mature" prototype.

Thanks.

Charlie S. brought his production type F-32, approximately 1/40th scale solid resin Boeing modelshop casting.

One thing I forgot to mention, he shot the cammo in lacquer with a production type spray gun rather than an airbrush, its covered with over twenty coats of clear. He's currently sanding it all smooth and sez its slow going.  ;D

Trev,

If you are looking for ideas, how about configuring the internal weapons bay to accommodate a pair of AGM-114 Hellfire or the Brimstone missiles?  This could be simple to fabricate by using the paired two-round missile launcher attached to the AMRAAM or Sidewinder launcher assembly.

For the particular branch of service or air arm:

Air Force version - Use F-16 wing pylons and fuel tanks for the project.
Navy or Marine version - Use F-18 wing pylons and fuel tanks for the project.

With either of these versions you get the benefit of sourcing the pylons, fuel tanks and ordnance that would be applicable to each type from a kit in the same scale.

Another idea might be to combine two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles to create a missile that is slightly longer in length but still able to fit into the weapons bay on the launcher that is provided.

I have some 1/48th scale Hellfires here that won't get used if you decide to go that route.
Did you manage to find an XF-32 then??

Try that for the X-32/F-32

The Weapons bays would be like the Kit but with one on each side, external pylons could also be used.

Note the F-32 utilised a less delta wing and had tail planes

I spotted this at the Nats in September.  Per the sheet, the warload is based on an actual Boeing advertisement.
