*EDIT: dear mods can you please amend the title to read JSDF GB?. Thanks!*

*EDIT: I'm going to keep a peep count in this thread!*

Ok guys seeing as there is some interest in this GB I'll go ahead and make up some basic rules which we can amend/question/call into doubt etc:

1. The completed kit my depict a soldier/vehicle/unit of the Japanese Self Defence Forces (JSDF). This includes the army, airforce, navy and although not part of the JSDF structure but because I dig their schemes the Japanese Coast Guard.

2. As always the completed model MUST BE a what-if kit. I suppose variations in colours/markings are acceptable as they would qualify as a "subtle" whiff.

3. The GB will run (if approved) from the 1st of August 2007 until the 1st of November 2007.

4. Prizes. Hmmm will need to think about this one for now :)

Has anyone suggest this? HAs it been done? Can you help as I can't be arsed to use the "search" button at 02:06am??

Anyhow seeing as both Maverick and Iranian have given us such awesome JapAirSelfDefence profiles I feel we could organise a GB to build a few...

Time: between now and when the Sun turns into a small cold ball of charcoal. Or whenever we get the requisite number of people.

Cheers!

Hmm, I'll admit to a few ideas along these lines that seem tempting at the moment.  The first thoughts that come to mind are a F-106J and the extreme F-4EJ-Kai proposal that included a new wing aerodynamically derived from the F-15's wing.

Tell me about all the ideas!!

There's Mav's F-111 in Japanese Tac camo thats AWESOME! Then I want to do a Jag in Mitsubishi F-1 colours (same as F-111).

Then there's the F-16C(J) in the F-2 blue scheme...

As for dates:

If the mods say yes then how about 1st of August to the 1st of Nov '07?

I always thought a F-100 would look good in JASDF markings ;)

Not much, I know that the McAir model designation was 98-MS and that, if you compare them, the F-4 and F-15 wings have the same root chord.  You'd have to add the wheel wells to a set of F-15 wings to do this as a model, but it's not that difficult.  I suspect that any such version might well also have the blown, instead of framed, windscreen.

weren't a few of the F-4E's late on in their service with the MO ANG at lambert st louis,
fitted with a 'one piece' windscreen instead of the original 3 part affair?

i am sure they were as daniel soulaines book 'phantom guardians' has a couple
of shots of these F-4E's so fitted.

Can we expand it to all branches of the JSDF?  Then I can do my Japanese Navy CVN  :ar:

we also need someone who can cope with a photograph of my entry being sent to
them in the post and them posting it up here for me.

nev, a JMSDF CVN is a very good idea! as you may know the USN carrier forward based
in japan is due to change from a CV to a CVN this year i think. uss george washington
has been mentioned.  B)
