Whats Your Prefered Paint Type?

I have always used enamels, Aeromaster was what I used until they stopped making them, now I use Model Master enamels.
Another reason I liked Aeromaster was their Luftwaffe colors were a lot closer to the intended shades than Model Master, RLM 70 and RLM 71 are a good example of how far Model Master is off and just how good the Aeromaster colors matched the actual RLM colors.
Also the Aeromaster enamels covered very well when brush painting. Model Master used to brush on nearly as good but a couple years ago I noticed they became much more difficult to brush paint and needed at least two coats to cover properly and even then did not look right so I now spray even the cockpits and other small areas of the model. I have read other modellers encountering the same thing so its not just a case of me getting a bad bottle or two.

It depends on the situation at hand for me.

But my faves are:

Tamiya acrylic thinned with either Tamiya thinner or Gunze's acqueous lacquer thinner, Gunze-Sanyo acrylic thinned only with Gunze's acqueous lacquer thinner.
The Ta-183 in Gekko's profile thread is exclusively Gunze.

If enamel, it's usually Testors Model Master but thinned with Park's Lacquer thinner (the hot stuff) sprayed on lightly as to not challenge the integrity of the styrene.  If I want the paint to really etch on, this is what I prefer.   (RIP Aeromaster, you are missed!!!).

No matter what, however, I always use a double cartridge organic solvent air filter.  Being a dentist, I use face masks at work anyways so having one on for hobby time is no bother.   Not having to deal with the particulates has made airbrushing the joy it should be.

I use Testors Model Master Acrylics, I haven't really tried any other brands since MM seems to do what I need without any problems. I like the quick drying I get with acrylics.

Acrylics seem to go on without a fuss with both a brush or an airbrush. The fact it doesn't smell up the place is a plus too :)

Gunze (arcrylics) if I'm airbrushing, Testors if I'm handpainting.

Mostly Aeromaster acrylics with Xtracrylics sometimes for airbrusing. Tho for metal colours I've used the Model Master ones - even tho they say Airbrush only I've always used handbrushing then left the garage while the smell goes away. These colours are very smelly butr have recently discovered the Games Workshop acrylic metallics and have started using these sometimes - much kinder on the nose.

Have tried Gunze and Tamiya but wouldn't do so again - they were hopeless for me but others swear by them.

I went completely acrylic several years ago, but I don't practice any sort of brand loyalty.

I like Vallejo and Citadel for fine detail work like cockpits and for their metallics, which can really make and afterburner can come to life.

For exterior surfaces, best bet in my part of the Czech Republic is Gunze. I brush paint the stuff that was formulated for airbrush. It takes a couple of extra coats, but the leveling properties are the best I've ever seen with brush applied paint. Additionally, most of them dry to at least a satin if not full gloss finish so it saves me the time of clear coating before decaling.

We can also get Agama paint here, but I've not had a lot of luck with their acrylic range.

I can't remember the last time I used enamels for anything.

Boy, if I could get Agama enamel here in OZ then that's what I'd go for every time.

Last person I knew who stocked Agama in Oz was Earl Martell at NKR Models tho I think he stopped years ago. I will be in Prague in Oct so maybe I could pick you up some and mail them straight back .

Great of you to offer, but isn't posting enamel some sort of offense?
Yellow, red and white, all RLM colors, would be great, but please don't go out of your way.

I forgot about the whole enamel flammable goods crap - sorry, now that's another reason to like acrylics
