Proposed tracked version of the Dora

The kit of the railway gun is only £250 :D

Just to give you an idea of the scale, here is a pic from another modelers IP diorama, that itty bitty tank you can see is a Tiger I...  :o

Put it on a ship!

Too big a target for aircraft late in the war.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I will wait until one comes out to go with my Dragon 1/6th figures...

I just saw a 1/144 kit of the Dora in the loacal hobbyshop yesterday. Box said it was all metal and it sure felt like it. The price was a rather ugly Aus$120!!! Not today I think.  ^_^

I know some one who has got one already, and four Trumpeter Loco's to go with it as well.  he's done some sums and has worked out that when built, it will just fit in the back of his Ford Mondeo estate (station wagon to the yanks) with the back seat folded down.

His intention is to put on a mega display of the Dora, the Leopold and the Karl on the club stand in time for next years Milton keynes show....but dont hold your breath lol.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

One could add it to a large diorama alongside Leopard tanks and Marders and say it was  brought back into service in the '60s as a means of firing nuclear shells against the Warsaw Pact/Soviet Forces.

One could buy a dozen and do a Gatling-like version... :dum:
Or what about a 1946 Flak version to bring down those B-36 formations

cool idea, perhaps with some rocket-propelled shells to hit Moscow.

Folks,

At the LHS here in SD (Phillip's Hobbies) he has one of these monsters on display.  Not for sale mind you as the actual belongs to someone else who asked Phillip if he'd mind "storing" at his shop for a little while.  Even the box is humongous.  The guy also popped for the metal barrel option and that alone looks like the bits for a life sized 20mm aircraft cannon.  The size of this kit, once assembled, is boggling.  I could see some of them done for museums but beyond that...

Err Nev, are you sure that Tiger 1 is the same scale as the Dora??? I am simply astounded by the size of the thing.

He He yes it does give me plenty of Ideas but the 1000 dollar price tag is a bit daunting.

Having seen it the flesh all I can say is it is impressive.

However I would rather take that kind of money and buy a Digital SLR.

There is an Anime by Katsuhiro Otomo that has three short stories one of which (cannon Fodder) fetaures a city that's entire exisitence is to fire some truely enourmous guns at an unseen enemy.

One of the guns looks like a turreted verision of the Dora. Now that would be a dio to end all dio's.

Get this Cheese to sick bay!

Or something that Godzilla, Gamera, Rodan, or King Ghidorah would respect when attacking Tokyo.
