And to launch the aircraft off the top of that flying carrier, all the crew had to do was just run over to one side of the zeppelin, all at once- and the resultant tipover allowed for the launch of the entire squadron, all at once, SIDEWAYS! :o

(This was a maneuver best done at HIGH altitude, and with careful spacing of individual aircraft on the deck, BTW.)

Getting away from gasbags for the moment, there's always Captain Scarlet's Cloudbase & Dr Who's Valiant.  Valiant definately seems to have been inspired by Cloudbase.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Great, then more aircraft can take off at the time! And that including aircraft normally too big!

There is also this "aerial cruiser"

Just got back from the London Transport Museum Depot where they have twice yearly open weekends. I joined the tour of the Poster and Artwork collection and they have some great stuff there. ;D

I will try and put the closeups online soon but for now you can drool over this.....
London 2026 AD; This is all in the air.

The airships offer London-New York in 36 hours, London-Sydney in 48 hours, Indian Mail services and more spatted biplanes and autogyros than you can shake a stick at!

They've got the skyline pretty close, one of the buildings even looks pretty close to Canary Wharf! They may not have got the type of aircraft right, but they're spot on with the amount of traffic flying over London!  Mind you, there's still 18 years to go & with the current resurgance in Airship design, it might come true yet!

Here's a nice design, if a bit unrealistic:

And, in the background of this issue is another neat design, but again, where are we gonna find turbofans THAT big?

Both are versions of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Heli-Carrier from Marvel comics Nick Fury title.
The first image is from the Nick Fury movie starring David Hasselhof (stink aroonie).

More versions here:

Easy, you'd need a ship for it anyway, and I believe large ships tend to be 1:350 or 1:700 scale, or something in that range. At 1:350 scale, a smallish turbofan from a 1:72 kit would be about 20 feet in diameter. Of course, that assumes the existence of suitable kits at a sensible cost...

There may be a simpler , and more 'believable' answer: I have a Berkley Boulevard 'Nick Fury, Agent of Shield' novel, where the helicarrier is described as having six giant rotor blades, three each side of the flight deck, and the craft itself being based upon a U.S.Navy 'Forrestal class' carrier, albeit with a bow observation lounge under the edge of the flight deck.
