What If More Pucarás Were Exported?

Hi folks,

It has been a while since I did one of these threads, but having just read the article on the history of the FMA IA 58 Pucará in the June issue of Model Aircraft Monthly, I can't help but wonder what might have been if the Argentines were more successful in their exporting of the Pucará.  Supposed possible customers included:

• Venezuela - OV-10 Broncos purchased instead;
• Iraq - purchase scuttled due to political pressure from Iran;
• Iran - looked at a number of times but nothing developed;
• Bolivia;
• Paraguay;
• Zaire;
• Nigeria;
• Yugoslavia;
• China;
• Saudia Arabia;
• Ivory Coast;
• El Salvador;
• Egypt;
• Philippines;
• Gabon;
• Honduras;
• Libya;
• Morroco;
• Nicaragua;
• South Africa; and
• Thailand.

There was also a deal to sell some to Mauritania and although this deal fell through, at least one aircraft was painted in the following scheme:



Anyone up to some other profiles or models of some of the other possible operators?

Got an Pucara in the pile of blanks, so I'll add them to the ever-burgeoning list

Just a thought, might not a version with TPE331/T76s have been produced for those who didn't care for Astazou's for some reason?  I could see that being desireable, especially if they were already operating other aircraft with the Garrett turboprops, either the Bronco or a suitable light transport.
