QuoteRecently, I've been thinking of modifying one of these:

by placing some sort of gun (say something like a 37mm or 47mm gun) between the two crew in a fixed mount to great a small (very small considering this was only around 2m in length!) tank destroyer.

Greg
The Poles built a series of mini tank destroyers.

Greg,
Here's an example with a 3.7cm gun. Mirage has kitted several variants of the Renault UE, including this german version with a couple of machine guns. There's also a version with rockets!

Looking forward to this Greg, I always thought the Renault UE would be the perfect candidate for a bit of scalorama.  Slap a 1/72 turret on it & you've got a French heavy tank.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks Jon and Frank.  In my mind though I was thinking something more low profile with the gun mounted almost S-tank style.

France - their late '30s aircraft may have been ugly, but I'll try to make their tanks look nice  !

Speaking of armour, has anyone seen this ugly creation - the Rheinmetall Gefas:

Greg, the Mirage Renault UE kits are "old school" kits, with separate top, bottom and sides. That's not too bad, though... until you see the sprue full of tiny, delicate individual track links, with giant attachment points. That's where I put the kit back in its box (I have three of these).

The Tamiya kit is far more expensive, but it looks much easier to build... and probably gets built more often than the Mirage kits!

Hi, my name's John & I'm an armour whiff modeller although I haven't whiffed armour in a few years

But seriously, I'd love to join the Build, I've got quite a few projects in the brainpan and a couple on the go as we speak that could easily slot into a GB.

Got a braille scale Hummel this Christmas and would just love to join....

I've got a 1/76 Black Prince and Tortoise that are begging to join this GB.

If we want the Armor GB next on the docket, as I do, we all need to place our votes in anthonyp's pol stickyied at the top of this forum.

I'm too lazy to look through the thread.  Is there a Commandant for this GB?

You have to drum up support, chivvy the entrants, encourage the slow, sticky and unsticky the relevant threads and sort out a winner - who will probly receive a prize from your stash.

OK, this one's the winner of the recompete!  If someone doesn't step up by Friday, this one's going on the back burner and the Styrene Junkyard GB becomes January's!
