Yes, I know "canarded" ain't no word (I have not yet begun to butcher the English language yet!).

Here's my entry:  A 1/72 Heller YF-22.

I couldn't just build it as is, since I really don't like the YF-22 version of the Raptor.  I actually came up with this configuration after playing with the Italeri F-22 a bit.  The tailplanes fit perfectly in front of the main wing on that model.  I thought I might be able to do something similar with a YF-22, and this GB gave me a good opportunity to do it.

The unfortunate part is the YF-22's contours aren't as nicely set up for this sort of thing as the F-22's are.  I had to reshape the inside part of the tailplanes so they matched the subtle curve of the fuselage near the intakes.  Also, instead of notching the now-canards to fit the sweep of the wing, I moved the wings back on the plane, to give it more of a true delta.

This thing's far from being done.  I still need to PSR most of the joints, put on the gear, and paint the entire thing.

I'm giving the Japanese this plane, seeing as how they aren't allowed to buy the F-22, but they would be able to get their hands on some of the technology.  Couple that with some of the early configurations for the FS-X program, and I think this plane would fit perfectly in some Japanese Anime.  Maybe something from Ghost in the Shell   :dum:

"Ghost in the Raptor"? "Raptor in the Shell"? Either way Anthony, you're on your way to building quite an eye-catcher!

Jeff?  Surely, you have me confused with someone else

And yeah, it does sorta look like a mini 1.44, but more neater (See!  I told you I had not yet begun to defile the English language!).

Anthony, that's lookin' pretty cool! Reminds me of the Lockheed artists impression of what the F-22 was supposed to look like.

I'm also curious about all those Battlestars you've got at the bottom of your pics :)

Looking pretty good Anthony, could be a beltwer when she's complete. also like the little fleet of Battlesaters in the picture as well...

Ack! Apologies Anthony. Post has been suitably edited. Still, this bird is cool as hell.

Heh, no problem, Bryan (though you're getting your name respelled for that  :P  )

Yeah, it hit me that this model looked a bit like the concept art for the F-22, but it also looks a lot like the small scale model of the original design for the JSF (too lazy to look for it at the moment, but it's also got this big honkin' fan in the middle of it... it's hard to miss).

And for those who wanted more pics of the Battlestar tease, look here.

This reminds me a bit of some of the early ATF concepts purported to have been from Lockheed:

No update pics, but I've added the landing gear.

Now I need to decide on paint scheme.  I'm leaning towards the dark grey low vis scheme of the Mitsubishi F-1, or a variation of the Sea Control Blue scheme.

PROGRESS!!!  Sorta....

Here's the F-3 moved down to the paint/heavy mod bench.  I'm still undecided on how to fill up the huge honkin' holes on the rear of the fuselage (where the horizontal stabs went before), as well as stumped on paint scheme.
