I Need Help

I just totaled up the pre-GB builds I had for this one:  Six.  Most in the two weeks prior to the GB going.

Yep, I need help.

Did I also mention I totaled up the sets of decals I've got set aside for this one?  About 20 or so (with more ordered, and more available at a LHS).

Yeah, I'm wrong in the head.

Anyways, for the Pre-GB builds, I've got:

Revell Mariner Seaplane (going to be USCG, probably)
Maquette 1/72 Ka-60 (USCG...  this kit sucks so bad...  Worse than the average Maquette kit)
LS 1/144 P-3C (USCG)
RoG 1/144 Challenger CL-604 (USCG)
RoG 1.144 BAe 146 (USCG...  for crying out loud, do you know how hard it was for me to NOT capitalize the "e" in "BAe"?)
Heller(-ish) 1/72 HU-30B (USCG...  was a Heller E-2C, then I took a razor saw to it...  It'll eventually end up as a "From the mind of Anthony" Floatplane)

And I haven't even started in on my "actual builds" for this GB...

Pics probably this weekend.

Yeah, I need help, we've established this   :dum:

Time won't allow for it but I'd love to convert Monogram's big B-24D into a flying boat in USCG markings.   That would be prozac-inducing enough right?
20 kits for this?  Awesome, dude.   Lofty goals are just fine by my estimation.

Heh, actually it was 20 total on the go right now, with six started before this build, though now that I count up everything I might do for this one, it is around 20  :dum:

I gotta finish up those still on the bench, though.

Well, I started early, but then again, none of my builds are eligible to win, so I can break the rules as I like  :P

(One thing i discovered is that I need to practice taking close-up pics of white planes with my new camera.  Talk about white-out!)

Up first is a 1/144 RoG BAe 146 (You have no idea how hard it is to NOT capitalize that little 'e').  I'm doing this one up in USCG white and orage, as a long range maritime surveillance plane.

Calling this an HC-139A:

Next up is a 1/144 RoG Bombardier Challenger CL-604, a plane I THOUGHT was a Whif, but I discovered through my research that it is indeed a real plane.  I was going to do it up in USCG colours and call it an HU-29A.  Turns out the USCG actually has a couple of these, and call them C-143A's (possibly HC-143A's).  Needless to say, the wind was let out of my sails on this one when I found that out.  This will still be a Whif, though, in that I can't find any pics of the things, so this one's going to be done my way.

Next is the LS 1/144 P-3C I found at Dean's in Flushing.  This is a neat little model, too bad I can't seem to locate any more of them.  I'm calling this one an HP-3C and basing it on Sentinel Chicken's profile.

Next is a Revell Mariner flying boat.  I have no idea what I'm doing with this one, other than it wasn't working in any other paint scheme I came up with for it.  It'll go to someone's CG/SAR.  This one was started last winter, and I just want to finish it.

Next is a kit that is giving me nightmares.  It's a Maquette 1/72 Ka-60.  This thing lives down to the usual level of Maquette kits.  Actually, I think this one surpasses the usual level of quality.  No, surpasses isn't the right word.  "Slouches under" is a good phrase.  The trees were full of flash, nothing fit right, and the instructions were more a hindrance than help in building the thing.  But I got the thing together (for the most part... I have extra pieces).  It's going to become a USCG "HH-65" since the two look so danged close.

Finally, here's the kit that either has the potential to look really cool when finished, or make me give up kit-bashing altogether.  Here's a 1/72 Heller E-2C that got hacked to pieces in order to become an HU-30A seaplane (was playing with making it an amphibian, but let me get the seaplane thing down first):

At first, I was going to use the float from a 1/48 Japanese WWII float plane, but it didn't look quite right.  I went with that for about two weeks, then trashed it and went with my initial plan of using some odd-scale resin Soviet torpedo boat hull as the water hull.  Unfortunately, I'd already hacked off more from the hull than I should have.  This one is going to be a PSR nightmare and a half.

Here's some pics showing the hull:

This thing was going to be USCG, with a 1/144 version based on a RoG E-2C and the float from a 1/48 Minicraft Cessna going to the Conch Republic.

Now, in addition to the pre-GB builds, I've actually held off to start more until the GB actually started.

Here's the three I've started in the last week and a half.

First up, an Anigrand 1/72 XV-15.  It's going to be USCG painted up in the overall orange scheme from the HH-65's.  I'm going to call it the HV-15C, what with the extra bits and bulges on it.  I seem to remember the XV-15 having a small cabin (or at least viewports simulating a cabin).  This would be the tilt-rotor equivalent to the HH-65.

Next up is the HV-15's big brother.  This is a 1/72 ESCI HV-22A that I'm doing up as an HV-22D.  Only one pic, since it's still fairly far from being done.  This and the HV-15 will look good next to one another in USCG colours.

Next up is one that's really in progress, but I wanted to show it.  It'll be a USCG HH-3H.  I know the USCG used the HH-3F Pelican, but I was looking at the HV-15/HV-22 combo and thought that the Sea King version of the H-3 would look great next to the old HH-52.  I don't have an HH-52 model (was a model of it ever made?), but I can do up an HH-3H version, based off of an Airfix 1/72 Sea King SAR bird.

That's it for now, but I did get ahold of an NH90 again, so look for one of those in USCG colours as well.

OK, here's some progress on the two (yes, two) HU-30 conversions!

First is the 1/72 version that's being converted from a Heller E-2.  This one presented me with more issues than I hoped it would:

That's the small version of the pic.  Here's the large one.

BTW, you can see another two models I started for this build in the background of the above pic:  The Fokker F27 Friendship and the Shinmeiwa US-1 (SS-2, actually, but it'll do).  The Fokker is actually going to get the rotodome leftover from the first HU-30 conversion.

Anyways, the 1/144 version I made from a RoG E-2 and the float from a Minicraft 1/48 Cessna came out EXACTLY like I thought it would:

The wing floats are actually motor life boats from the old Revell USS Long Beach kit.

And just because I want to sorta show off (and Brian was prodding me to), here's the overall pic of my bench:
