There have been a few Australian jet cars over the years including at least one with an ATAR jet engine from RAAF Mirage.  There was also an attempt to procure a TF-30 for a project but it was refused.

See here for more info.

We had Richard Nobel give a presentation at our AGM/Forum a couple of years ago. Obstensibly about Team Building/Leadership, really about big boys toys

Great talk. Never realised SC steered like a "shopping trolley"

The drivers comments after beaking the land speed record - "I am not getting in that ****ing hing again"  :P

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I remember a jet car equipped with a J-79. But it was not a Starfighter IIRC.

Not this, but this is beautiful. Needs wings in fact.

Art Arfons also built a J-79 powered car:

QuoteMind you a similar car powered by two Lightning engines would definitely be neat.

How about a car powered by one Lightning engine?

I was thinking more the Lightning fuselage with some wheels.

Hmmm...
Another option.  Take world speed record cars and convert them to aircraft by adding wings, etc.

I remember watching a programme about the LSR, and I think it was the guy with the J-79 had tried to get one, and was told no, he then found one in a scrapyard. He had a visit from the military when they found he had one. He was allowed to keep it, used it and still has it.

Kent Shockley's Shockwave jet truck used to be powered by a J79, but the current model mounts three J34s.  Ho hum...

The Lightning fuselage probably wouldn't work for an LSR car, too tall, but could form the basis of a cool looking Water Speed Record boat. :)

Send a PM to Anthony the Group Build Commisar and he might add it to the poll to select the next group build.
