Now that the Kinetic Stoof is released, what about a retro-Stoof with cloth wings?    And African one with the torpedo bay being replaced with some horrific street sweeper machine gun bay?

Take one back to WW2 and give it a turret?

Greg

Dorsal 2-gun turret, glass nose with a couple of .50s or 20mms, or even a set of cheek-mounted gun pods like the B-25?
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

Real Canadian ones were armed with RP's on zero length launchers

S-2s were built from the get go with zero length rocket stubs under the wings.  I think there were six on each side.  Whether or not they actually carried them operationally though I don't know.  I can't seem to recall ever seeing a photo of one with a full load of HVARs save for test shots.  That's the USN Trackers though.  I have no idea about any of the other operators.

Really  :o  That must be before the CRV7 pods. Did they carry 60 lb HE rockets like the Banshees?

They would have been 5in HVARs.

I think I got it wrong apophenia, just had a look in the Squadron 'Tracker in Action' and couldn't find the photo I thought I had seen of a Canadian Tracker with 5" HVAR's.  Found one with the CRV7 pods though, and there's a few of USN ones carrying the 5" HVAR's and Zuni pods, even torpedos hanging from the wing pylons.

Now I just got to remember where I seen the Canadian one with RP's on it, it's the reason I got all the old Airfix Skyraider RP's in the Tracker box ----- hmm!

Thanks kit'. It'd be interesting to know what the RCN was hanging from its CS2Fs. Lots of online sources mention the HVAR that rickshaw brought up but I suspect that comes from US sources. I've never been able to confirm RCN use of the 5" rockets.

Same story for the RCN's 'Banjo' - HVAR and HPAG get mentioned but 60 lb HE are the only rockets I can recall in photos of the F2H-3s.

As Kinetic is going to release a 1/48 Greyhound (thanks Raymond for the blurb on ARC in the Stoof thread), how about converting one to a gunship AC-47/AC-130 style?   Alternatively, once there are extras available at swap meets a few years hence, pick one up for cheap and convert the fuselage into a frog or some kind of lizard with Magic Sculpt.

Additionally, how about a Grumman/ DH Canada built Greyhound bush plane with full STOL capability?

Maybe some of the options posted on page 2 of this thread such as the Greyhound 21?

Can anybody direct me to pics of the firefighting equipment in the weapons bay of an S-2 Tracker water bomber?  I've Googled & struggled to find anything.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

They flew from older designs before, so that should be no problem.

Given that they operated from HMAS Melbourne without any (real) problems they should have had no problems operating from a Hermes or Bulwark class carrier.
