I don't know if it's from growing up with these things around everywhere, but they still are the toughest looking beasts to me. Large, yet somehow compact...just perfect ! Saw them today on HWY 23 on my way to Barrie. Got to go to Barrie.....

Somewhere I've got an IPMS Canada RT issue ( or two ) with all the details of them in CDN service, if anybody wants to see.

Tough old beasts, shame they're in such a dilapidated state :(

Which reminds me, there were some photos in last months Military Modeling of an old Diamond T transporter from WW2 that was still being used by a haulage company in Ontario, painted bright red, and still going strong!  :tank:

Oh ya ? See if you can find some more info, nev....I'll try and check it out !

As for the old Deuces...they are pretty ratty, but judging by the appearance of the grass around them, they still move on their own accord. I'm gonna buy one, someday......

Yup, the old 2 1/2 ton 6x6, spent a lot of time in them, front and back. Anyone can drive them as they're automatics. Noisy, slow, with the acceleration of a wounded snail, but damned reliable and tough!

At least those two vehicles are set up with the hard top cab and probably "winterized" which is good.  Most of the trucks I rode in were just the soft canvas top and there was no heater so you were in for a very cold and miserable ride during the winter.  That sends a chill up my back just thinking about it.

This is a much newer truck, but I couldn't see starting a new thread just for one photo.  From the NCANG portion on Charlotte Douglas airport, about a month before I moved:

Yes, that's a nice one ! This could be the 'cool army truck' thread...that's fine by me !

The Tamiya 1/48 Deuce is an absolute gem of a kit, and would tart up many a display base.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid
