OK, in reality it had a British 105mm gun, but even better than ours due to the lengthened barrel.
Also, in reality a tank destroyer rather than a tank, as it had no turret, so was a defensive jobbie, firing from dug in positions.
The frontal armour was considered not too good.....by the time it was withdrawn, in tests, a Soviet 125mm gun fired a shell which went straight through the front into the ammunition storage at the back. Not good news....but it'd be OK when it entered service.

So, that's the reality bit....oh, and it looks great.

What to do......Israel never had a requirement for such a vehicle, but and I'd hate to cover all the lovely detail on the upper hull with extra armour.
But, I shall add SERIOUSLY heavy side armour to protect the wheels, tracks, and imagining all this, plus stowage, etc., makes me really want to say BUGGAR reality and do an IDF one. Stowage, extra detail, extra machine guns?
What d'ya think.

I know the British army had a couple on trials       cos the dropshorts were going to get them, runs for cover  :P

I say, put some sheet styrene(or whatever) and armor it up(maybe even reactive armor  ), screw the molded on detail, and then add the stowage, etc. Then, put a different gun in it, like the Soviet 125mm that you said could take it out in one shot. Or even better, a 155mm out of a US M109A6. That would be the ultimate tank destroyer. But, if you do want a hint of plausibility, the up-armor and up-gun would make pretty damn heavy, so I personally would paint it up for some country with lots of hard ground(no sand to sink into) and the doesn't get much rain(no mud to get stuck in). But its your world, and your tank, and if you want the Israelis to have it, then give it to 'em. Also, I agree, they are probably one of the best looking tanks around. After the Maresal, of course.  :ar:

Yes, good friend John Tapsell has done a British Army model, one that was tested anyway...it appeared in print in either the IPMS Mag or Military in Scale.

I suppose one in British Army of The Rhine might be good.....olive and black and mud too. Or a Canadian one in the same scenario?

A desert one would be nice, but it's not really a desert-type tank.

I think I'll check up on my Forge World books and see if I can add a huge cannon, paint it in a spectacular scheme?

Quotewell, it was designed to protect roads through the forests of Sweden right?  Hence the lack of turret.

so...how about....one of the Germanic Tribes, waiting in the Teuteborg Forest to ambush an advancing Roman Tank Army?  :tank:
With loads of severed heads hanging from the side skirts eh Nev - now somehow that will appeal to Rad  :P

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks for the ace suggestions....

German "ambush" scheme has lots of potential as a Germanic Tribes version....lots of research (oh, goody!) needed, with spare heads mounted on the front, etc.., Lots of stowage too.....great to have fun with, and it'll be a belter.

Then I can choose an Imperial Roman Army something to ambush
But that Roman tanky-thing is for the future

Loved the racing idea.

Israeli....thanks, Anthony, yes....Israeli and BUGGAR reality!

The 3rd one......something from the far future, the very far back, or an alternative present, I think, with infuences all round from Forge World.

QuotePut a turret on it !
Might I suggest a low-profile turret like that used on the experimental US T92 tank?  Use the S-Tank's present suspension to handle elevation, with the gun locked firmly in the turret, and the turret for traverse.  You'd still get a low-profile tank but it'd be more capable.  I think I'd definitely look at improving the armor, too.

supplemental reactive armor wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Quoteoh dear, I've just come up with an idea silly enough for Radish to go with....should I be worried?
Yes. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.  :o

Nev....just be silly, go for it.

ISRAELI....same gun, but Blazer armour circa 1982 I think...lots of stowage, track guard armour (very thick, I think) and armour on the front too.
BOSTIN'..

Germanic Tribes....BRILLIANT

Go on Nev, spill B)

Terry,

Why not Captain Scarlet?

It has that Gerry Anderson look about it, and it would fantastic in Spectrum markings!

Well, I'm on my fourth (or is it fifth?) one. This one I'm doing as sort of a "StuG V", using the suspension, gun and assorted bits from the Dragon 3 in 1 initial production Tiger 1. Doing side shields as well. I'll post pics when it's a little further along.

So, Ralleymodeller, is that the 1/72nd S-tank or the 1/35th you're building a whole army of?

I've got 3 x 1/35th to have a go at, but will add more either at Duxford (August 7th) or via online purchases.

There's so many GREAT ideas!!
